While using the mixer the top of the machine gets very hot. Is this normal?ifnot what can I do to Remedy this?
For model number KG25H0XCE5
Hello Ed, thank you for reaching out. The stand mixer may become warm during use. Under heavy loads with extended mixing time periods, you may not be able to comfortably touch the top of the stand mixer. This is normal. Other reasons for getting a hot surface are: the mixer being used too long, the ingredients being too heavy, mistakes from adjusting the speed settings, mixing ingredients that produce steam can cause the mixer to overheat, and some mixer components, such as beaters, dough hooks, or other components that are not properly placed in the mixer, can cause the motor to work harder, causing the motor to become hot. If that is not the issue under normal conditions, the mixer will not show any tendency to heat because of the built-in ventilating system in the motor. There is a possibility that the vents are blocked and the end cover is blocked, and it can be removed for cleaning. As for the need for lubricant, here is what the manual says: "Under normal service conditions, the mixer will not require lubrication for many years. The gear case is lubricated with an ample supply of Benalene 930-2 grease (6 fluid ounces), which lubricates all the gears and shafts". We hope this information helps!

When using the mixer it will trip the GFCI on the wall. The level of power or the material it is mixing does not effect its frequency. I have moved it to multiple outlets and it does the same. I have checked the cord and opened the top cover and do not see anything obvious that may be causing this. How should I go about finding a solution to this?

Hi Rusty, thank you for reaching out. According to our research, we would recommend you check again the insulation on the power cord, part number PS12731012. Also, the cable might be worn out. Use a multimeter to measure the leakage current. We hope this solves your problem!
