A Cooking Tray developing a growing crack
The unbelievable happened. Our glass carousel cooking tray developed a crack. Each day the crack got longer. I ordered a new one on Tuesday and it arrived the next morning just before the cracked one completely cracked. I have never experienced such fast service. I highly recommend PartSelect and their helpful service.
Light bulb out, tried to remove, lamp socket broke
Above the stove mounted microwave. I dropped the lens cover from under the bulb and tried to remove the bulb. The bulb separated from the base. I tried to remove the base with a pliers and the lamp socket broke. I ordered the parts and dropped the bottom cover of the unit down (5 screws). Removed 1 screww from the lamp socket, unplugged the wires and took it out. Simply replaced socket, fastened bottom cover of microwave, installed new bulb and closed lens cover.
I ordered the part and when I recieved it, I saw that I had orderd the wrong size. I called and customer service was very friendly and helped me to get the correct part. they sent the new part out and even though it was christmas hollidays I recieved it the day after Christmas. Great Company
I took it out to wash it. It was in the dish rack, I went to reach for the coffee pot and CRASH!!
I went on line and tped in GE your web site came up. It didn't even take 5 minutes to order the part. The best part was I ordered it on Sunday and when I got home from work that Tuesday it was at my front door. I will certainly use your company again. Thank You
bulb had broken off in base that was still screwed into socket
At first I tried to use pliers to unscrew the base, very uncomfortable working position, upside down and backwards(the microwave is installed over the range top)very limited space for your body and arms to manuver and you really cant see the base, all of this took place after the breaker was turned off ofcourse, finally figured out that you can drop the entire bottom housing of the microwave by unscrewing 6 screws and the light sockets are easily accessable once you lower it,take out 1 retaining screw ,remove the entire socket and unscrewed the broken base and replaced the bulbs,I said bulbs, there is no sense in having to replace another bulb in who knows how long since only one had burned out but they were both the same age
i had to replace the cooking tray after 9 yrs as i dropped it and broke it. i ordered the new tray in feb and rec'd it right away. the new tray mysteriously burst one day in the microwave after a few weeks. i spoke w someone at partselect and they replaced it right away. wonderful customer service. thank you.
We were so happy to be able to order a replacement glass microwave tray after I broke ours during cleaning. In this throw-away world we live in, we assumed we would just have to buy a new microwave but ours was only two years old so we really didn't want to do that. We found the same microwave at the store but it had gone up in price quite a bit. Ordering this plate as a replacement part just made financial sense, and it was so easy to order. It arrived very quickly and we were extremely pleased with the whole experience.
Socket cracks and goes brittle from heat from bulb.
Unplugged the microwave first, then removed the screws that hold the cover in place. This gives easy access to the socket. Remove the screws that hold the socket in, unplug old socket, replace with new one and you are back in the light again.
I had to pop off the facing on the microwave on the inside and then on the outside. On the inside, I used a kitchen knife to carefully pop off the facing. I found the screws that were holding the old handle on. I had to pop the back of the microwave door off to gain access to the other screws for the handles. The outer screws had to be put in place first, making sure that the glass did not slip. The facing needed to be popped back on before the inner screws were tightened. I tightened the inner screws and then popped the facing back on. The thing that took me the longest was figuring out how to pop the facing off and lining up the screws in the handles correctly.
After reading some of the comments that others wrote, I decided to order the light sockets along with the replacement bulbs. As predicted, the old light bulbs broke when I tried to remove them - the bulb separated from the base which was still screwed in the socket. After removing the screws that held the bottom panel, I was able to remove the socket assemblies with ease. After inspection of the old sockets, I was glad I ordered new sockets - the old sockets were burned in some spots and very brittle. The parts arrived within a day and a half after I ordered them, but when the parts arrived, one of the bulbs was broken (happened during shipping). I called the office phone number and talked to a really pleasant technician who refunded me the price of the broken bulb and placed an order for a replacement. That was the Wednesday evening before Thanksgiving Day. I got the replacement bulb yesterday (Tuesday) morning - still really quick considering the Thanksgiving holiday. All of the parts are installed and are working excellent. I am definately going to keep their WEBsite for future use, and I'll be letting my friends know about them. Thanks PartSelect, you've earned my business.
Remove microwave outer cover. Turn on side & locate the upper & lower door switches. Better to replace in pairs even if one is ok. Remove the wire harness to each switch. Then replace switch and re connect the wire harness. Re attach outer cover and test to see if that solved the problem. If so then well done!!
Microwave would turn on and count down, but not heating and not rotate turntable. Pressing door up would occasionally start heat.
First I disconnected the power and opened the door. Then I removed the top screws holding the top vent louvers, then removed the screw at the top of the touch pad. The touch pad removes by sliding up slightly then tilting top out. I unscrewed two screws holding the door latch assembly. Press the tab to remove and replace switch. Reconnect wires, reseat latch mount by placing top bracket tab in place first, allign and secure with screws. Reseat touch pad by placing bottom tabs in first, tilt forward and press up to seat top tabs, secure with top screw. Secure vent louver screws, plug in and watch your microwave work again.
