The refrigerator side is not cold enough while the freezer side has ice and frost buildups
I went online to diagnose the symptom and 3 things came up, thermostat, heater and adaptive control. I replaced the thermostat but the symptom continued so I also replaced the heater. This fix the problem. On the front side inside the freezer, take out the panel by removing everything (food, tray). The panel can be removed by using a nutdriver. Once the panel is removed, you can see the ice on the evaporator coil. You can wait or use a hair dryer to melt it. Get ready to collect the water from the rear of the fridge by opening up the rear bottom panel and using a scoop (I used a cough syrup cup)to collect water from a very shallow drip pan. If you don't scoop the water out, it will spill on the floor once the ice have all melted. The coil is attached to the fridge body by 2 plastic tabs. I pulled the coil near the tab to minimize pressure so that you wont misshape the coil. I broke one in the process but I do not see the need to replace the broken tab. When I put the coil back, it was still firmly in place. The heater is at the bottom of the coil and is attached by 2 wire clips. Very easy to remove using a plier. There is not much room to move the coil because it is attached to the refrigerant line. Using a plier, you have to open up the side of the casing where the coil sits so that you can take the coil straight out. Reverse the process to finish installation.

icemaker leaking water into ice tray
removed old icemaker and transfer some of the parts to the new icemaker. The only problem was that I had to disasemable the new icemaker to replace the fill tray with the older style (which was included). Once that was done, installation was pretty easy.

Ice maker had no water and quit making ice
I removed the old ice maker as described by the DIY video and had no problem except, I had to remove the ice tray from the motor section so the end cap could be changed. This only required removal of two Phillips screws on the case of the motor assembly, that are used to to secure the tray. Once the tray was off, the ice ejector could be removed and the end cap was free to change. Everything was re-installed in reverse order and unit was mounted. An FYI to anyone with slow ice making, will need to check their freezer temperature. Make sure it's set to get as cold as 5-10 degrees Fahrenheit. After installing new maker, it was not making ice fast enough, only to find my freezer temperature needed to be changed as well. Everything is working as it should now.

Ice maker would not make ice
The ice maker was easily replaced, however I still had no ice. I ended up using an on-line repair service which determined that the problem was the water inlet valve. Replacing it was beyond my expertise so I hired an appliance repairman.

Ice maker dripped water to make one large icecube
After reading the articles previous owners wrote, I tackled the repair. There were no big problems until I had to change out the water line on the icemaker tray--that part was for a different frig--so it had to be changed out with the Amana water line part that was enclosed. I couldn't get that part removed, so I had to have my husband change it out. He then finished the installation. Everything went smoothly, just my pride wanted me to finish it all by myself.

Auger would get jammed with ice in dispenser
Replacing the auger assembly was easy. Unfortunately it did not fix the problem, which was a weak auger motor. The motor would not turn the auger when a piece of ice would go into the area where the blades push it out. It would instead stop the motor and make it screech. This happened with every third piece of ice. Replacing the motor, which I bought elsewhere (couldn't find on this site) fixed the problem.

I broke the switch pulling the freezer basket out.
I watched the on line you tube video on how to DIY. The putty knife worked to pop out the switch. I used the standar screwdriver to unplug the switch from the wire harness. Then plug in the new switch and pop it back in to the roof of the freezer. Tip: watch out when ordering the new switch - the freezer switch is different than the refrigerator switch. The freezer has three prongs. The fridge has two. I initially ordered the wrong part and added a week to the repair time and had to pay shipping to return the first switch.
