Perfect replacement filter fo my Microwave.
The price was good and the part fit perfectly. The only issue I had was a very very long shipping time. I gave it five stars but because of the three weeks to deliver, I should probably have given it four stars.

Micro wave charcoal filter
I've used this filter for a number of years . The charcoal vent on my microwave isn't adequate enough. When using the vent the air is forced out through louvers on the top of the microwave. Over time, about a year, the ceiling becomes discolored and dirty with a light coating of grease.I position this filter over the louvers held down with GORILLA TAPE and the ceiling is kept clean. I change it about every 10 months or so.

discolored ceiling
Microwave vented up toward the ceiling discoloring it. I positioned the charcoal filter over the vent holding it in place with scotch tape. It keeps the ceiling clean and dose not affect air flow from the exhaust vent. I change the filter every year.

Microwave was sparking & fire going up the side
After reading on-line about other Amana microwaves, that said the arching was probablly due to dirt or grease & I knew it wasn't dirty, I decided to try the sandpaper recommended to clean the carbon from the wall where the shelf holder had burned several years ago. This caused the remainder of the clip to become loose. I then took a sha
... Read morerp knife & popped the clip out which left a neat square hole which your shelf holder popped right into. The filters were an afterthought because I didn't want to pay shipping for only a $2 item

Can the charcoal filter be cleaned?
For model number MMV5186AAW
Hi Mary, you can put them in water and swish them around to remove some debris, but they are meant to be replaced regularly. Thank you for your question and good luck with your repair!
