Knobs were melted, lites did not lite up.

To replace the knobs was easy simply pulling the old knobs of and pushing the new knobs on. Replacing the on off lites was a little harder. i had to remove the control box that the knobs were mounted on. follow the wires. One lite for the left side and one lite for the right side. The left side lite was hooked to the two left side controls and the right side lite hooked to the two right side conrols. The wires then went down under the unit to the electrical junction box and wire nutted to the main wires servicing the range. What I didn't realize is that the left front contrlo knob is the only one that controls the fan.It has fan onthe knob. the rest of the knobs are not to have fane on them.I didn't notice this when I made out the order now I have all four knobs that have fan on them.

Shut off power to range. Removed 4 phillips screws under control panel. Tip bottom of control panel up and out to unhook it from the range top. Remove half of old lens piece from slot in bottom of plastic lamp fixture. Insert smaller end of new lens through front of control panel hole. Slide lamp fixture slot over the inside end of lens until it clicks into place. Replace control panel. That's it.

The 15-year-old Jen-Air stove started smelling really bad. I thought it was a dead animal stuck in the exhaust tube which runs under the floor to the outside. I flushed it out with clorine bleach, but it was still bad. It turned out to the be the grease filter. I washed it every week in the diswasher, but it just was not enough to get it clean enough. Finally, the grease went rancid and smelled really bad. This "repair" took about 30 seconds.

The original grease filter was damaged in our dishwasher (it is quite fragile) and needed to be replaced.

2. Swivel the clamp 90 degrees to release the filter.
3. Remove the filter and throw it away
4. Place new filter in place and lock in place by rotating the swivel clamp back 90 degress.
5. Replace the exhaust vent cover

The filter came and it was bent out of shape on 2 sides. My husband carefully tried to bend it back into shape. It is very flimsy and is not made as well as the one that was being used that was probably several years old. I did not want the hassel of returning the filter and trying to get a new one sent.

It is so easy. Once I found the right size of filter from the website, I ordered it right away. It came in 3 days and I just need to take out the old one and insert the new one. No instruction is necessary. By the way, the price of the filter is one third of that from Jenn-air.

Removed front wooden kick panel(2 cross recessed screws).
Removed 2 bolts holding blower to floor. Loosened 2 vent clamp screws on vent from stove(2 clamps). Pulled vent off of blower housing. Removed blower from under stove. Using a nut driver, removed 4 nuts from blower and removed the motor cover & motor from the blower housing, removed 3 screws from motor cover and removed the motor cover from the motor. Ordered new motor. After new motor was rcvd (about 3 days plus wk end) I removed the squirel cage from the motor shaft using a metric allen wrench. Then removed the mounting clamp from the old motor by loosening 1 screw. Placed the motor clamp and the squirel cage on the new motor, then placed the motor cover on the motor. Placed blower mtg bkt and motor on blower housing w/ the 4 nuts removed earlier. Placed blower motor assy under stove being careful not to damage the exaust vent behind the blower motor as I carefully put the blower motor into the exhaust vent. Placed vent from stove on stove and blower housing and secured w/the 2 vent clamps removed earlier. Attached the blower motor base to the floor w/ 2 bolts. Wala........complete

This was a no-brainer: old filter out, new filter in. In addition to replacing an old, greasy filter, I found that the exhaust fan now draws cooking fumes much more efficiently. So why did I wait the 6 years since we moved into this house to do this???
