inner element burnt out.
inner element stopped working. took the front panel off and used multimeter to check resistance. it showed open for the inner ring. took the top off, then took the triple element off. visually confirmed broken heating element. replaced element. the repair was straight forward once you figure out where the screws are (8 bottom of front panel, two on each side, then for top 3 each side, 2 on the back -- watch out and don't drop those two). I downloaded service manual from servicematters.com, but it's not helpful, except the wiring diagram.

the quality of Jenn Air range is low. when I bought it, it came with a non-working element. sears replaced the range and now just 1.5 years another one out. once I opened it, there was a loose screw, and two places had missing screws. wire connectors were hard to connect/disconnect.

dual element - one section not working
disconnect the power supply at the breaker panel. Test with volt meter before removing cable in JB. lifted cooker top out of counter position. lay on flat protected surface glass side down, (protect the glass using a large towel) remove the side screws and screws around power cable bracket. Carefully lift off back panel noting fan connection to be disconnected. mark each cable on the old and new element to ID their position. remove terminals/cables from their position. undo the two screws holding the element in position, transfer brackets to new element. Clean any dust/dirt from the inside of unit. install the new element making sure you connect the cables as per your old element (refer to your notes). replace the back cover making sure you reconnect the fan terminals. tighten all screws and check all looks correct.replace hob in counter top and reconnect to the power supply again make sure you note what colour cables connect to the feed line. apply power at breaker panel, test all elements working correctly, wait for top to cool and clean glass top. Make a cup of tea.
