JDG3000A Jenn-Air Dryer - Instructions

The project was rather simple and saved the price of a new dryer! After lifting the dryer top the most difficult job was replacing the lower thermostat. It was in a relatively tight area that my hand did not fit into easily. The actual time spent on the repair was 35 to 40 minutes.

From the description of the symptoms on the site and what part fixes those symptoms I was able to determine what part I needed. The video was very easy to follow and understand it was very helpful. Hands down the best parts website I’ve ever come across.

Used the putty knife to pry open the front of the top cover. Removed the retaining screws securing front cover to each side. Lifted front panel off bottom hooks and holding drum, removed front cover. used wood block to hold drum in place. removed broken belt and belt tension spring. Keeping the rubber side of the belt against the drum, threaded belt through the tension spring onto the drive motor flywheel. Tilted dryer backwards to hold drum in place while removing wood block. Assembled front and top in reverse order. Used pressure to secure top to spring clips.

Watched video and removed old fuse. Tested with ohm meter which showed it was bad. Very very easy to replace. Video shows everything you need to know. Remember to open front panel of dryer and clean lint system! Extreme build up of lint causes dryer to over heat! Fantastic web site with all info needed to complete repairs! Had an idea how the repair would go. The video is a great tool for someone not mechanically inclined. Easy fix and will save from paying a repair person. Suggestion .... put a small block of wood (or something simular) under the drum when you pull the front cover forward to save from having the drum drop down making sure the back seal is still seated and in place. No big deal and easily fixed if it pulls away.

What's the video you had on your website and did it the way you showed how to do it. The video was helpful just like you showed it.

I felt the belt had broken since the unit was still running. I went on-line looked at some you tube movies to get some idea what to do. Was very helpfull. Found on-line how to get the part forb this nearly 20 year old dryer. Had the part shipped overnight, was able to track it. Followed your innstallation instruction, With the heavy rubber bands hooks at both ends it was easy. Never done this before, sure saved a good amount of money.

Followed the parts select You tube video. Was helpful. Note the Ignitor kit is very sensitive. We didn't need an ignitor right now but purchased one in case the other 2 parts didn't help the problem. We took the ignitor ( wrapped in a bag) out of the packaging and it snapped in half without even touching the sensitive end. Note handle with extreme care.

Went online to see if this was a common problem... found the Part Select site... watched the short repair video... thought I could give it that a try, if it worked I just saved $150.00 bucks! Sent for parts, got them in two days! The repair was quick. I bought a nutdriver for the task but it wasn't a magnetic bit...get a magnetic nutdriver! Those small screws can get away from you. I had to slowly unscrew the screws and catch them with a telescopic magnet. I was washing a load during the dryer repair in hopes the repair worked..it did and I(Mr.Mom)completed 4 loads that morning.

After looking at your video, my brother and I put the belt back on, placed the front and back on and that was it. It required two of us but it went well and the machine is working fine. Thank you.

Less than a houre

The belt broke at the worse possible time, with a washer full of wet clothing. Watched one of your fine repair videos, did exactly as it said and in less than 15 minutes I had the new belt on and the laundry continued as if nothing ever happened. Thank you for your help and instruction. I will continue to shop your site for all me maintenance and parts needs. Thanks again!

This was the first time that I'd had a dryer apart, so naturally I wound up taking many more things apart than I needed. After finally removing the front panel, I could see that the old belt had broken and was wrapped around the motor shaft, and that the tensioner was lying loose. Installing the new belt was a snap. Simply put it on the lines on the drum and insert into the pulley. The only challenge was figuring out exactly how the tensioner fit. The only way that it could go, and do its job, meant putting a lot of pressure on the spring. Once I got past that hesitation, it was a breeze.
