Silverware basket was falling apart.
This is almost a joke. It took 5 seconds to remove the old silverware basket by lifting it from the bottom Rack. Then I spent another 5 seconds to lower the new basket onto the lower rack of the dishwasher. I was a little miffed because the new basket did not match the photo on the Parts Select website, which photo seemed to match the old basket exactly. However it fits, and the wife likes the design of new one better than the old one.

Latch Broke Off
This explanation comes from a novice "helper" (helping her brother!) when the latch broke off I thought I couldn't open the dishwasher door but found I could, although the part you have to grab and pull is sharp, so I used a paper towel to cover it. To put on the new latch, you need two socket sets: a hex bit set to remove 10 bolts holding the inside of the door (you'll be using the bit with six points), and a regular socket head to remove tiny bolts holding the latch in place. Once inside, it's fairly easy. The only tricky part is going slowly in tightening the new latch once you've reattached the bolts: you tighten a little and then test how much play the latch has and so on until you finally get it fairly snug. You don't want to over-tighten because you are talking about a plastic part you are screwing metal bolts into, so go slowly -- tightening one bolt and then the other and testing the latch for looseness. When we were satisfied with the snugness, there was still a little play in the latch, so you're not looking for rigidity here. Also, I ordered the door spring linkage piece (about $3. 50), But didn't need to. From its name, it sounded like I might need it but didn't. Also, the parts arrived very quickly (1-1/2 days), so I wouldn't order anything extra up front.

Water holes corroded shut
Whatever you do, don't call a repairman to do this simple replacement task. 1. Remove the lower basket. 2. Locate the round knurled nut holding the spray bar on. (use gloves or a channel lock pliers if it's corroded on) Lift off the spray bar. noting the 'flats' on the bottom of the spray bar. If the knurled nut has lots of corrosion, put it in a container of vinegar for a couple hours. Use screwdriver to remove the metal plates on the ends of the spray bar and install in new one. Then install new one in reverse order. A real piece of cake.
