door was difficult to open, latch had failed
Using the correct Torx screwdriver remove the Torx screws holding the inner door panel to the outer panel. Two of these screws also hold down the latch. Have someone hold down the outer door panel, lift the inner panel slightly and pull the latch with 2 wires attached beyond the inner panel so the wires can be removed. You will need needlenose pliers to wiggle off the 2 wire connectors from the old latch. Note from which terminals the wires were removed. Connect the wires to the new latch and reassemble in reverse order being careful not to over tighten the screws.

door latch broke
after a couple of shocking moments with my dishwasher, I found that I couldn't detach the electrical wiring plugs from the exisitng broke unit, attached to the door to install the new. I ended up carefully removing the plug ins from the replacement part and and repeating the steps with the broke part, then attaching the old wiring to the new latch. Tada! It worked!
