I attempted to remove the broken auger and gave up after failing to be able to remove the part. After watching the video and seeing how to use a putty knife to remove the auger assembly ,it was a piece of cake. I ordered the new part and got it the next day. I was amazed at the speed of delivery.

WOULD NOT DISPENCE ICE

After removing the ice bin from the freezer turn off the ice maker. Removed the clear ice shield(one screw) from the front top of the ice bin. Turned the ice bin upside down and removed the two screws to release the ice crusher box Then removed the screw holding the ice crusher control rod in place, you will also need to release the spring tention and slide the spring along the rod(not to easy) With the rod released you will need to insert your finger into the ice crusher opening and lift the white plate up to allow the rod to be disconnectedd from its hole in the ice crusher parts. Turn the bin right side up and with two flat screwdrivers pry(on the two short sides) opposite each other, insert the flat ends into the gap between the ice crusher box and lift the bin up and out and remove the ice crusher box and auger out of the bin. Once you have the auger and box out, stand the ice crusher box on end and remove the clear plastic plate up the auger(this is a little tricky and you will have to wiggle it around until you can get it up and off the auger shaft. Once you have the plastic plate off, lay the ice crusher box and auger down on its flat side. Hold the auger so it does not turn and remove the C-clip with a flat screwdriver. Remove the auger from the ice crusher box. Hold the auger to prevent the auger from turning and remove the large white nut(left hand thread)turn clockwise to remove. The ice crusher parts can now be removed from the shaft, it is very importment that they are put back onto the new shaft in the right order. To help you get the order correct, place them down onto the workbench with the white nut at the top of a single column with the last item taken off, being closest to you, in the same order and with the front side facing up. Replace the broken auger and install the parts starting with the part closest to you. Once you have the ice crusher parts back onto the shaft reinstall the auger into the ice crusher box and reinstall the C-clip to hold the assembly into the ice crusher box. Now reassembly the unit in the reverse order.Once you have the auger and ice crusher box into the ice bin and the rod and screws in place, you are ready to reinstall the unit into the freezer. Note how the drive arm is positioned and insure the auger drive end is aligned to fit into the drive arm in the back of the freezer. Turn on the ice maker(green light should come on) and reinstall the bin.

The repair went fairly easy, the only problem was the tabs on the side were difficult to release. That is what the putty knife is for. The repair video was extremely helpful. What I was most impressed was the speed in which the part was delivered. I ordered it about 3-4 in the evening, It was here about 11:00AM the next day. So in less that 24 Hrs. I had the part and the repair was made. I will Always PartSelect for my appliance repairs. Kenneth J. Wells

I followed very carefully the instructions in the video online, and without this there is no way I could have done the repair because a critical step involves removing a plastic cover over the cutter blade compartment, and it is really hard to remove. After trying many approaches, I finally took faith from the video that it would slide out but it required much force. I am unable to understand why anything would be engineered this way, it could have been made much easier and more intuitive. Once that problem was solved, the rest went smoothly. Video was excellent.

Well first of all could you tell the one responsible for the online video that I love them. Without the video I'm sure I would have needed more than just a new auger once I got finished with it. Not to mention being in trouble with my wife for destroying the entire ice box. The video showed exactly what I needed to do down to the smallest detail such as the reverse threads on one of the nuts. I'm confident I would have destroyed it had I not been made aware of that small detail. Everything went well and I was just wondering whenever I have additional problems with my home would you be willing to take special requests and prepare a video for me to use as well.

My husband and I teamed up and completed the project and it works! I was continually wincing - worried that he was gonna force some other piece to break. A video that we watched made it look easier than what we experienced. I don't think I could have done it alone - he had to exercise restraint and I added attention to detail - you have to think it through and focus. We actually found that the crusher piece had a crack - we super-glued it - undoubtedly, it will not hold but we don't use the crusher that much anyway. That repair can wait...
