Adding a small amount of water to the filter would resolve the problem for a week or two. So, I thought this was an issue with the filter and decided to try the bypass cap to help zero in on the problem. The bypass cap had no instructions concerning the need for O ring so it was trial and error. The O ring was not needed. After installation of the bypass cap, no water flow resulted and I had to replace the filter. Intermittent problem continues.

When the condensor fan motor started making those "Dying Mouse" noises I knew it was time to replace it. So I removed the fan motor and re-oiled it's lubricating packing, reinstalled it and promptly ordered a repacement moter online from PartSelect. I've ordered parts from them in the past with great results and rapid shipping. So now the "Dying Mouse" has been evicted and my wife is happy. And everyone should know, ( If Momma ain't happy, Then nobody's happy.) Thanks again PartSelect for your fast, reliable parts source with very reasonable prices.

Ironically I did this today, as this email request came up asking how it went. I'm not a repairman, I'm a software engineer, and I can't thank this site enough for the step by step videos. With the video to help, this was a breeze, I was nervous as I had to empty all my freezer out onto the living room floor. Once that was done the repair took about 30 minutes. Thank you partselect!!!!! My second time doing business here, and I'll be coming back (well, if something breaks, so let's hope I don't have to).

First I ordered a part that needed fixing. It came promptly and my son fixed in about 10 minutes. Then I discovered the slide rail was also broken, so ordered it and received it promptly. When my son was over yesterday he took a screw driver and removed the old part, replaced it with the new rail and all was bright a sunny again.

Had a repairman come out and quote me over $600 to replace the control panel and the display. I went online and found you guys, watched the video, and replaced the control panel in less than 15 minutes. Your video was great and gave very clear instructions - unplugged the fridge, unscrewed the panel on the back, popped off the control panel and connectors using needle-nose plyers, put new control panel in place and reconnected all the plug-ins, put cover panel back on, plugged fridge in, reconnected and checked display inside front of fridge, it came on and lit up, closed the door and let the fridge cool to the proper temp. The fridge is now working great for around $175 for parts. Thanks!

Broken auger and housing

  • Customer: Edmond from Hamilton OH

  • Time to Complete: 30 - 60 mins
  • Tools Required: Pliers, Screw drivers

Repairs were simplified by watching the on-line video. Only problem was the screw on collar on the end of the auger was broken and the only way I could buy it was to purchase the entire unit for @129.00. If it was available with the entire unit why couldn't I buy it by itself? I wound up drilling out the end of the collar and putting a small screw and washer in it to hold the D ring in place. Working great so far.

My husband and I teamed up and completed the project and it works! I was continually wincing - worried that he was gonna force some other piece to break. A video that we watched made it look easier than what we experienced. I don't think I could have done it alone - he had to exercise restraint and I added attention to detail - you have to think it through and focus. We actually found that the crusher piece had a crack - we super-glued it - undoubtedly, it will not hold but we don't use the crusher that much anyway. That repair can wait...
