FSG447GHS0 Frigidaire Dryer - Instructions

My order confirmation email had a "how to" video for installing the parts I ordered. I just watched the video, and the installation was ridiculously easy! We've put up with the obnoxious screeching noise for probably about two years, and with about $40 in parts and less than an hour of work time, we have practically a new dryer!!

took front panel off, removed access panel in rear to disconnect the belt from motor. removed top panel (this is a stack unit) take plastic rivets loose from lint trap, remove lint trap tube, pull drum out after slightly pulling up to dislodge drum from bearing cradle, Remove bracket and bearing from back of unit, clean parts of old grease (be carefull not to loose small ball bearing on back) Reassemble parts using moderate amount of new grease, put parts back together in reverse order.

This is a front load dryer. First unbolt top cover of dryer. Then unbolt screws and connections to control panel. Next unbolt all screws holding dryer door and front bottom panel. Next take belt off of drum and slide out drum from the front. From inside of drum remove 3 screws and remove bearing then put new bearing on and bolt up the same way you take old one off. Using an 8mm socket or wrench remove plastic bearing cage located at rear of dryer. When unbolting there is a retaining clip and small steel ball to be removed from back of dryer. Replace this the same way you take it off. He sure to grease the bearing cage then replace everything back from putting the drum in first to your last step bolting on top cover of dryer. Hope this helps anyone doing this repair.

I pulled off the broken knob and black fitter that was originally on the plastic piece. I didn't even need pliers. Then I replaced the new rotary knob under 5 seconds. Now the dryer works like new.

i remved frt cover and drum. cleaned old seal from frt cover and glued new seal and guides on cover and while the glue dried i screwed the new rear support bearing into the rear of unit.i watched the how to video wich was very helpful.its like a brand new dryer....

Many thanks for the video you guys put together on replacing dryer belts! I didn't know how I was going to get inside the dryer. I had the dryer apart in 10 minutes! Had to wait a day for the belts to come in. New belt in and dryer running in 15 minutes! Thanks for running a first class operation!! Jim

I heard the dryer running, but I didn't hear it tumbling like usual, so I got suspicious. I popped the top off of the dryer to reveal a broken belt. Installation took 20 minutes.

Everything I needed to know was already on your website. Prying off the top of the dryer (with a big screwdriver under the front of the top) was the hardest thing, since I was afraid I would break something. Only then can the front be removed (taking out just 2 phillips screws). The rest is easy.

To determine if your lower and/or upper drum seals are the root cause of the brown steaks, take a clean white rag or old T-shirt and wipe it all the way around the felt seal between the drum and the door opening (if you stick your head in the dryer and look towards the front of the unit, you'll see the seals). There are two seals; an upper seal and a lower seal. Both of mine were bad so I replaced both. Insert a putty knife between the dryer's top lid and the front of the unit about 2 inches in from each side. This will disengage the two spring clips that keep the top securely fastened down. Lift the top up, disconnect the wire clips (I had just two wire clips and they were located on the right-hand side up near the top of the dyer so it was easy to access them), remove the two screws that hold the front panel on (these are on the top). Carefully remove the front panel lifting it out and up off the lower clips (easy). With the front panel off, scrape off/peal off the seal(s). Use sandpaper to get any remaining felt off of the panel. Don't wory about removing all of the dried up glue, you're just going to cover all of it anyway with the new adhesive and seal. With the old seal(s) removed and the surface cleaned up the best you can get it, apply the adhesive to the metal and let it set for about 45 seconds. Apply the new seal and hold it it place for about 2 minutes pressing it down all over making sure that it's even. Leave it alone for about 30-45 minutes then reinstall the front panel.

I had this happen a couple years ago so I knew what to do. The hardest part is getting the old glue off. I did that with some nail polish remover and a paint scraper - probably took 20 minutes just to get the glue off. From there, it's just glue on the new one and slap it back together. In hindsight, however, I would've ordered and installed the lower guide as well and done it all at once.

Not much needed to replace a broken knob. I was very impressed with the fast service and will recommend Partselect to my friends.

The install was easy. Careful with the glue, it is serious. Took my time to disassemble the face panel and did some serious cleaning throughout the process. Clamped both pieces in place for about 5 minutes to let the glue set. Dryer is spinning like a top and the overall vacuum of the innards has improved dry time as well. Disassemble was the most daunting task, but well worth the effort. Absolutely nothing to fear here, just keep track of your screws :)
