Block terminal burnt out, hot plate not working, needed to replace the terminal block

  • Customer: Shaun from Whitehall MD
  • Difficulty: Difficult
  • Time to Complete: More than 2 hours
  • Tools Required: Pliers, Screw drivers

This should take approx 15-30 mins. It took me 1.5 hours as I pushed the terminals into the wrong end of the block. It's very difficult to get them out when you do that... However, there are no easy instructions on the block or in the instructions to tell you which end to push the terminals into!!! So, with a 50:50 chance of getting it right, I got it wrong. I think most people would need to buy a new part if they do this. It would be very much easier if the block, had an arrow that simply said IN here so that this type of simple mistake is less easy to do... If you get that right, the fix is quite and straight forward. Good luck.

Burner wouldn't stay hot.

Two of the rangetop controls would intermittently go to hi-heat

  • Customer: L E from Houston TX
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Time to Complete: 30 - 60 mins
  • Tools Required: Screw drivers

The left rear (small burner) was the first to start intermittently having only off or high heat. Then the left front (large burner) started (probably sticking contacts). Since two had gone bad, I ordered 4 new ones to make a complete repair. I was pleasantly surprised to discover that the large burner controllers had been "beefed up" to a heavier duty controller. The changeout was merely removing wires and verifying terminals on the new controllers. It was so easy that "even a caveman could do it"
