What does part 302 on the diagram do?

Water comes out of the bottom of the dish washer were the float stem and switch are on the bottom of the dish washer .What could be the problem?

Hi Larry,
Thank you for your question. If there is leaking coming from the float or float stem, then too much soap is being used when the dishwasher is in use. Water does not normally leak from the float or float stem, but if too much soap is used, soap foam can go up the float and down the switch. To prevent this from happening only use the soap recommended for your dishwasher. Before using the dishwasher turn the hot water on in the kitchen sink and let it run for a few minutes to make sure that it is good and hot so when the dishwasher is in use, the soap will dissolve.
