Thank goodness you sent the video along with all the instructions as i had my laptop on the table and followed stopped it and followed it again. I actually did this . Hooked up power cable install it over the 2 top screws, install bottom screw and tighten all 3. Turn on power and water, lowered bar. It started making ice in about an hour. NO LEAKS. Did not have to adjust water level. Took me less than ten min to complete.

The Sears man came out and told me it was the thermostat that needed to be replaced and it would cost $321 plus tax. I went on youtube and watched the Partselect video several times and decided to order the part after seeing how easy it was to install. Total cost $65. I put the laptop on the counter and watched it as I installed it. It helped that I could go back and watch a certain part if there was a problem. But I had no problems and installed it in 20 minutes. Very, very simple to do. Of course I had to pay $75 to the Sears man but I saved about $200 . Thanks Partselect.

Done , no leaks and it worked in less than 15 minutes . I am 70 years old and this was a snap. So fix it yourself in 15 minutes or 1 hour . Save yourself some money and be proud that you did it .

  • Tools Required: Nutdriver, Pliers

The hardest part was figuring out how to get the front panel escutcheon panel off. With the putty knife under the bottom flange, you need to push down with some effort on the part of the flange where the drip pan slides in and twist the putty knife to disengage the locking tab. Once the panel is off, the rest of the job is easy with the aid of your video. Everything works like new...thanks.

I took ice bin apart to ensure what part I needed. Got Serial # & Model # from inside fridge. Online search for Whirlpool Parts to check out prices. Settled on PartSelect for best price. Quick service too!!! Before putting it all back together, I reviewed the video. It was pretty good. Just left it up & after each couple of steps, I'd look at what was next. Went together with no problem. There could have been more details given, like ensuring that certain things lined up during reassembly. There was dead time when the narrator could have given pointers.

  • Customer: Robert from Shenandoah TX
  • Difficulty: Really easy
  • Time to Complete: 15 - 30 mins
  • Tools Required: Nutdriver, Screw drivers

Took 1/4" nutdriver and loosened the two screws on top then removed the one screw underneath. It came out except for the wiring harness attached. My icemaker came with a wiring harness, but I elected to unsnap and use the one in the freezer to keep from doing more work on connection. Replaced the bail and heard the first ice drop in a couple of hours, then more ice till it was full the next day.
