Bake Element Burned Up
We've had this range for almost 10 yrs and while on the clean cycle the bake element burned up. We ordered the new bake element on Wednesday and was delivered on Friday. Installation was not difficult as we followed the advice of other installation reviews. However, while removing the old element one of the wires snapped back into the insulation. We had to remove the back cover plate and found the correct wire and just pushed it through. Easy, peasy, japaneasy!

There were no burnt spots on the baking element but I turned the electric power off and removed two screws and removed the two termenals wires and replace them on the new element and replaced the two screws that I removed. replacing lower element
removed old element--had read warnings about wiring would go back into insulation--pliers slipped and one wire "jumped" back into insulation--had to take back off stove to retrieve the connection--other than that incident, the connection was simple--suggestion--make sure you have needle nosed vise grip pliers to prevent wire from becoming lost in the insulation---could not find my pliers so had to use regular pliers.

Scorched and discolored oven door vent.
Simply remove the large screws from the inside of the door and the smaller screws that hold the handle on. We used a "star" tip screwdriver bit (it might be called a torx head?). Keep the smaller screws separate as they are slightly different in length. Remove the handle. Slide the vent piece off. Reassemble with the new trim piece. The stove looks as good as new. It took less than 15 minutes and we avoided the $79 repair call. One has to wonder why manufacturers use plastic parts in an area that gets so hot that it scorches when the self cleaning cycle is used?

Baking element caught on fire...after 6years
Repair was easy. 1. Turn off the electric to range. 2. very carefully remove the door(makes it real easy to access inside the oven.) 3. remove the 2 screws but be careful. 4. remove the two push on teminals. 5. The wires are very very short so they snapped back into the back of unit. 6. pulled out range and took off the 5 screws holding the small metal piece protecting all electrical wires...7. found the two terminal wires and push them on new terminal leads. 8. screwed the elements two screws back in, 9. replaced the small back with the 5 screws. 10. cleaned the floor behind the range and pushed it back in place.... DONE.... element works fine...tested it. however not cooking with oven today with temps outside at 104-105 ...will wait till it gets a little cooler... but all in all it was a piece of cake.....
