DE412 Maytag Dryer - Instructions

Followed the vidio on your web sight , simple, thanks for the help, saved me a ton of time.

Remove the old Lint Filter and plug in the new Lint Filter. Very easy process. I was pleased because my dryer is very old.

I assumed it was an electrical issue, checked the circuit breaker, and power at the outlet and both were good. I then tested the start switch, which was also good. I did some reading and learned that the thermal fuses often are at fault when the dryer won't run. As it turns out there was a dead bird stuck in the exhaust, which had clogged up with lint and caused the thermal fuse to blow. I tested continuity and found none, so I knew the fuse was bad. Replacement was pretty straightforward, just remove the front panel, the wiring shield, and the front drum support. Two screws to remove the fuse. Installation is the reverse of removal. The dryer runs great now, and no more musty odor to the clothes,

Loud notise when drying. Took apart and noticed the wear plates were junk. Shipment came in within 3 days. Video on website guided us every step of the way. This was our first DIY home repair on an appliance. Very happy!

Followed instruction and drilled out rivits and replaced glides and wheel very easy and saved money

remove front panel 2 screws, remove lint guard, remove metal shield replace blower wheel and reassemble

We bought this dryer one month before we were married 29 years ago. Rather than pay $500 or more for a new one, I replaced the heating element for a little more than $50 and it took about an hour. Pretty easy stuff all things considered. Part arrived in two days after ordering. Great service and my wife and dryer are good for another 29 years.

Replacing the blower wheel and roller was easy. The internal mechanism is vary simple. The only help I needed,was for my wife to vacuum the inside.

Pried out the old female hold and snapped in the new one.

Experienced a loud squealing noise when running. At first it was intermittent, then became constant. Read reports at PartSelect.com of the same problem that pointed at the motor bearings with eventual failure of the motor. Removed the back access panel and rotated the motor to confirm the noise as coming from the bearings. Decided to replace the motor along with the belt, idler pulley and drum rollers as long as I was in there. I watched all of the available videos at PartSelect.com and read the previous repair experience to get a game plan. I am not the most mechanically inclined person, but the replacement of the parts went well. The only stress point was reconfiguring the wiring to the new motor. However, after paying close attention to the instructions and going slow, all went fine.

Removed front of dryer. Removed the drum and belt. This allowed easy access to the rollers. There was very little rotation of the rollers when I tried it by hand. I also took digital pictures as i took it apart to ensure I could get it back together. I did not purchase the front glides and they needed replaced so I had to order them separately. This cost me a extra shipping fee. So order them from the start. The roller shaft assembly comes with tworoller shaft washers. So don't order them extra as I did.

then the noise got worse. After taking the front cover and door off and disconnecting the electric to the push button I took out the Phillips screws that hold the plastic cover over the fan. they come off from inside the drum. There was 1 of them that I could not get off as it is on the left side and is inaccessible so I had to just pull on the cover and break the screw. The fan then came right off as the clamp had already fell off, which I found underneath the dryer. Caulked up the plastic cover and put back the screws and front panel. Nice and quiet again.

I used a video that played sounds and described what caused them. I found out the blower wheel was supposd to be tight and not free moving. When I spun the dryer drum by hand I heard the noise from the blower wheel and it kept spinning when he drum stopped. It also was loose one the shaft. I ordered the part from part select and then watched the provided video on the repair. Only difficulty was the clip removal. But was able to work through that. Had it back together and tested in about an hour.

As described on video, except re-installing the belt was difficult. I found it easier to reinstall the drum first, then put belt on inside the grooved part of the drum, so there is some slack. Once installed around the idler and drive shaft, slide the belt forward into final position
