Igniter switch was inop
It took longer to figure out how to get the selector cover off than it did to replace the switch. Once I had access it was only about a 10-15 minute job to install and put it all back together and operative. Actually a very easy job to do.

Nasty, clogged, old grease filter
I carefully removed the disgusting old filter and took straight to trash. I then used my wet/dry vacuum to clean the rest of the loose debris from the area where the filter area is located. I used a clean, dry cloth to wipe the remainder of the material away and then carefully lowered the clean new filter down into it's new home. So easy, it took longer to type out these directions :)

The fan switch on the Jenn-Air downdraft cooktop was bad and needed to be replaced
Be sure to unplug the unit first. Removing the screws to the control panel, disconnecting the wires, and replacing the switch is the easy part. The threads are plastic where the nut holds the switch in place, and it would not stay tight, but popped loose because of the plastic threads. I added some super glue to the threads and hand tightened. Replace control panel cover, re-plug into outlet.
