CTB1722GRW Magic Chef Refrigerator - Instructions

I used your video and saw how to replace my ice maker. Before I saw your video I was going to pay someone to replace it. I am so glad I found this site. Thank You so much the job was easy and your video showed me how! Thank You!

Researched the part and the fridge. Turned off the power, left the water on. Opened the freezer door and pulled the ice tray straight out. Used a mirror and flashlight to locate screws and tabs. Took the screw out, tilted the old ice maker about 20 degrees away from the wall of the freezer and pulled down on it to release it from the nylon tabs. Unhooked the electric wiring harness. Switched out parts that were reused, plugged in wiring harness, and installed the new ice maker. Make sure you get the water tube back in the hole of the new ice maker. clcked the the new unit in placed reinstalled the screw, reinstalled the ice dispenser and in less than an hour ice began flowing.

Removed the old ice maker. Video showed clips holding ice maker in the Freezer. Maytag had 3 screws. Removed the old one added the new one. Nothing! Took it out and tried it again? Pinched the hose in the back did not see it. Took it out again. Realized the rubber hose had froze up. Turned off water supply removed the Rubber hose from back of freezer thawed it out. Put ice make back in place. NOTHING! Told wife I would wait overnight for it to make ice if it didnt, I would put old one back in to be sure it was a defective part. 4 hrs later, wife heard ice fall in the tray. Wished instructions would have said would take time for ice maker to kick in. Works like a dream.

Oredered the new icemaker. They delivered fast - it was here in 2 days. One nut holds in the icemaker, then it just lifts out and unplug the wiring harness. New unit was identical, which is very nice. No modifications to make. It went right in and works perfect. Great experience.

Had I not confused the old ice maker with the new one and tried to reinstall the old ice again I would have been done in less than 15 minutes. The instructions were clear and helpful, the parts all fit and it went right in. It worked within a few minutes and has been perfect since. Thanks

Exact replacement. . . . Ice!

Repair for the most part is very easy! With the particular assembly that I purchased you MUST keep the cord, the wire piece that tells the ice maker when tray is full and the front cover from the previous part. Removal is easy. Flip wire piece up. Remove ice holder. Remove screw at bottom of assembly. Push assembly up not to hard as you don't want to break the clips attached to the fridge. Pull out far enough to disconect white cord at the fridge connection. Piece removes easily. I actually had a little ice build up in the white hose that dispenses the water. I took a cup of warm/ hot water and held up to hose to melt ice. To put back in just do it in reverse. Remove the 3 parts previously mentioned. Put on the new assembly. It was a little tricky getting the clamps to click into place. Just go slow and push upwards and towards fridge wall. This is definately worth trying yourself before calling a repair man! Good luck. Replaced the ice maker ass'y,for me it was easy as i have been a mechanic all my life however there was'nt any instructions with the new ice maker to explain about moving the control arm from old to new and as mine was stuck in the motor end it would have been nice to know how much force could be applied to free arm

At first I went to a local part supplier and they didn't have it in stock but could order it for me for $55.00 plus $10.00 to ship it. I told them I would have to think about it. I went home and got on the computer and found your web site and was I shocked when I saw the same part listed for $6.98 and $7.00 to ship it. You guys saved me $50.00. The part arrived in two day and took 5 min. to install. I now have light in my refrigerator. Thank you.

After disconnecting the electricity. I followed the instructions as indicated in the "HOW TO" article on the website. I used a steel putty knife and pried the light switch out of its retaining hole. I worked the right side the most since this is the side with the retaining clip. After I removed the switch I transferred the two electrical outlets to the new switch and easily snapped it into place. Engaged the electric power and tested the switch.

got the icemaker in 3 days, installed in less than 15 minutes, nothing happened-so I thought it must be the water distribution valve-I looked up the part and it is very similar to a valve I had purchased for our Maytag refrigerator-freezer at our lake cabin that I hadn't used-drove 20 miles roundtrip, after locating the valve and preparing to shut off all the water to the house (since the icemaker shutoff is in crawlspace). My dear wife suggested that I might want to check the icemaker first to be sure it hadn't started on its own-Idid, and it had-has been working without fail since then. Just needed some patience which I always seem to have in short supply!

Ice maker was leaking water into the bin causing it to freeze together. To repair I purchased a new Ice Maker part no PS2121513 for $101.00. I used the repair video to find out how to replace the part, the video was very helpful and enabled me to replace the ice maker in under 30 minutes. Once the new part was installed I waited 2 hours for it to start making ice, before the ice maker can operate the bi metal thermostat has to reach approx 14 degrees F. This can take longer than an hour so you have to be patient. I checked mine with a volt meter probes inserted in the T and H test points on the front of the timer assembly. If you read a voltage of 110/120 volts it means the thermostat has not closed. If it takes more than 4 hours it could mean a bad connection so turn off the power and recheck the plug in harness connections. If you do not have a meter you can feel behind the timer with your fingers to see if the ice maker cup or bowl has water or ice in it. Turn off the power first.
