thermostat not working
Ok, first off, I am a girl-with absolutely no 'fix it skills" whatsover. My husband had pointed out the problem to me the second time the fridge started to get warm. I ordered the part (wrong one first time), then reordered the correct part. I emptied the freezer, defrosted the coils, installed the part. Put back together-all of it took about 15 minutes. I am still oh so very proud of myself.

defrost t-stat failed, defrost heater stayed energized and freezer could not pull down to temp
Unplugged refrigerator, removevd 4 hex head screws in rear panel of freezer. Gently pull panel forward and rotate panel to left side of freezer to expose coil. (If you have an ice maker you will have to remove this unit first) If no ice maker plastic plug will fall out of panel when you pull it forward. Set aside it aside.
Disconnect heater connections. (1) wire on each end of heater. Disconnected (2) wires that connect defrost t-stat. Removed (2) metal clips that hold defrost heater shield and defrost heater to coil..
pulled t-stat off of refrigerant line on right end and replaced with new. (It is only a little spring clip that is part of the t-stat) Replaced defrost heater. Reversed un-install procedure for metal clips and wiring. Gently plug wires in (do not pull on wires) Put rear panel back in place, put in the 4 screws , hand tighten only (just to snug) gently push on panel to make sure it is back as far as it will go..check screw tension again. Put plastic plug back in drain hole or re-install ice maker. Plug the refrigerator back in. This should not take you more than 30 min. max. I do not have an ice maker so it only took me 15 min.
