Door Closing Cam Disintegrated

The door closing cam on the refrigerator door was a snap to replace. However, I'm still baffled on how to replace the freezer door side. The condensation tube from the door runs through the door pivot and joins to a compression fitting behind the bottom trim piece. The compression ring is behind a formed lip on the tube and won't slide off. I could cut the tube but I really didn't want to do that. If anyone has done this and knows the trick to replace it, I would appreciate it.

stopped making ice

First I turned off the water supply. Then I removed the ice bin and the ice maker by removing 4 screws and 3 electrical connections. This allowed access to the evaporator fan which was not moving. To remove the evap fan I removed two screws that hold the fan bracket. The fan assembly now had to be pushed back and rotated to remove from hole. There are 3 electrical connections that have to be disconnected from the fan, one ground wire that also is connected to the fan bracket and 2 power connections. Installing the new fan was the reverse of the above except the power connections were in a different location and i had to use the extension wires provided with the new fan to have the length needed to make the connection.

Noisy freezer evaporator fan, bearings worn out

UNPLUG UNIT. Open freezer compartment, top door. You may want to let it warm up a bit before beginning work. Next remove single screw from small square plastic grate at top left back of freezer compartment with phillips screw driver. Remove green ground wire connection behind removed grate with nut driver. Next remove 2 screws at top of freezer compartment holding plastic air diffuser bracket in place and holding back panel. Remove metal back panel of freezer by pulling top towards you, then angle out of compartment. Evap. fan is now exposed. I inspected and removed fan by removing two screws with nutdriver on bracket behind fan blade. I inserted nutdriver (with long socket driver)between fan blades to screws on bracket behind blade - 1 each side. After these two screws are removed, pull fan and bracket assembly out from plenum. Remove wiring from motor and remove motor to workbench. Remove round metal clamp from fan hub with needle nose pliers and slide off fan blade from motor. Also remove bracket and rubber bushing. Disgard old motor. Inspect and clean blade. Replace if necessary. Reattach rubber bushing, bracket THEN fan blade to new motor. New fan has atleast one terminal in new location and I had to use one wire extension that came with kit. Route wire behind motor and plug in new wires to back of motor. Insert fan and bracket to plenum, hold in place with one hand while reattaching screws with nutdriver between fan blades. Once fan is in place and nuts secure, I tested operation by plugging unit back in to make sure new motor ran and fan spun freely. Reattach back panel, top diffuser bracket and small grate with 3 screws. Shut door, set temp. and wait 24 hours before loading freezer. Unit good as new!

All the shelving rails had cracked, vegetable and meat storage bins dropped.

Removed the storage bins, unscrewed the old rails, screwed in the new rails and saved a Sears service call plus their mark up on the parts. Estimated savings was about $100.

support clip broken.

After figuring out how to remove the old broken clip, replacement was easy. Had to use a small putty knife to open the release on the bottom underside of the clip(between the clip & the refrig) . By looking at the replacement piece it was easy to figure out.

hinge set

Was not hard. It was the bottom hinge so we had to take the door off, but that was only a matter of a couple of screws. Replaced the bottom hinge and closing cam, replaced the door and it was done.

Door was squeaky and would no close

I layed several small 2x4 blocks on the floor, then raised the door up from the hinge, using the small pry bar. Then removed the the screws for the hinge. Removed the screws holding the door stop and removed the door cam. Then, I replaced the door closing cam. Replaced the hinge and screws. I Lowered the door on to the hinge and applied a little lubricant to the cam and job complete.

Removed the top hinge and the door.
Removed door stop held in place by 2 screws, installed new door stop.
re-installed door and top hinge.
Easy once the correct diagnosis was made
It would have been nice if I could have e-mailed you the symptoms and received an accurate diagnosis. As it developed, I initially replaced the door cam before realizing that the door stop itself had broken.

Not cooling - cond fan did not turn

Unplug refrig! Removed back cardboard covering (~5 screws)
(1) Cleaned all the dust out (hardest part!)
(2) Removed power wire to motor
(3) Removed 3 bolts holding motor to frame
(4) Removed motor/fan blade to the left
(5) Moveded fan blade to new motor (clean it!)
(6) Replaced motor, reinstalled 3 bolts
(7) Plugged power wire to new motor
(8) Tested it - worked fine, failed safe, drained to bilge!
Replaced back cover (had to tape it since I horked it up removing it)

UNPLUG UNIT FROM WALL. REMOVED COVER FROM REAR OF UNIT. CLEANED COILS WITH VACCUUM CLEANER. UNPLUG WIRES FROM FAN MOTOR AND REMOVE NUT HOLDING FAN BLADE TO MOTOR. REMOVE 3 SCREWS HOLDING MOTOR TO MOUNT. REPLACE WITH NEW MOTOR,MAKE SURE FAN BLADE DOES NOT HIT HOUSING. PLUG UNIT BACK IN WALL AND REPLACE COVER.

I had to defrost freezer first becasue it was heavily iced up. Then I found that one of the heater elements was "open". I removed both of the old heater elements and installed the replacement parts.

Existing light switch was hard to remove.

The existing light switch was very hard to remove. I ended up having to grab it with a pair of pliers and pull it out. Once it was out, it was very easy to put in the replacement and it seems to be working fine.

unusually noisy

Removed the three screws from old motor body-bracket assembly , pulled off 1/4'' spade terminals and removed shield from terminal block for re-use.
Removed fan from old unit and installed on new,
screwed new motor in place, replaced terminal wires, plugged back in refrigerator.
Now my old rerfrigerator is whisper quiet

DOOR NOT CLOSING TIGHTLY + STAYING OPEN

TURNED OFF WATER TO REF , REMOVED BOTTOM KICK PLATE , GOT A TOWEL AND DISCONNECTED THE WATER LINE PLASTIC FITTING AND UN SCREWED THE (2) TUBE CLAMPS UN SCREWED THE COUPLING AND ((CAREFULLY )) SLID OUT THE TUBE FROM THE COMPRESSION FERRELS ! ( BE CAREFUL AND DO NOT BREAK OR DISTORT THEM + REMEMBER EXACTLY THE ORDER THEY ARE REMOVED !
SLID THE PROTECTOR SPRING SHROUD FROM THE PLASTIC TUBE , TOOK OGG THE TOP HINGE COVER THEN REMOVER THE TOP HINGE . CAREFULLY LIFTED THE DOOR OFF FEERING THE PLASTIC TUBE THROUGH THE BOTTOM HINGE WITH MY FOOT ! GOT THE DOOR OFF REMOVED THE BOTTOM HINGE + PUT THE NEW ON ON, THEN REMOVED THE DOOR CAM WHICH WAS BROKEN ON THE BOTTOM OF THE DOOR , LIFTED THE DOOR UP AND CAREFULLY FED THE WATER LINE THROUGH THE NEW BOTTOM HINGE . ATTACHED THE TOP HINGE AND REASSEMBLED THE REST SAME AS I HAD DISSAMBLED IT . TURNED ON WATER ( CHECKED FOR LEAKS ) ! ALL WORKING 100% A-OK ! THIS COMPANY IS THE BEST ! ORDERED THE PART AT 1 PM AND HAD THE PART AT 2 PM THE FOLLOWING DAY MANY THANKS : )

Pulled frig out. Removed back cover. Unplugged frig, unplugged motor. Removed fan from old motor first then 3 screws from bracket that holds motor and removed motor. Reattached motor back on bracket, reattached fan on motor. Plugged fan back in and then frig. Everything worked fine no more soupy ice cream !!
