No heat on main oven burner
10 minute job, remove racks, 2 screw to take out the lower oven deck, 2 bolts removed for the igniter, unplug the connector, install the new igniter, re-add the 2 bolts & your done. Re install the lower deck, put the racks back on, plug the oven back in, turned on bake, set to 400, within 45 secs, the igniter kicked in and my oven was back in action. Contacted GE and they wanted $99 for inspection, $75.00 for the part (2x the current cost) + labor for 1 hours $90, overall costs if i had GE or a contractor = 250-300.00, total costs for me 43.00+ plus 15 mins of labor. I truly saved using a few you tube videos and with parts select, i got a OEM part shipped fast! Thank you all.

The oven would not light. The igniter glowed red but the gas never turned on.
My first guess was that the igniter was good because it glowed red. After viewing your repair video and reading your text "hints" which told me that even if the igniter turned red it may still be the problem I decided to get the igniter. Installation was simple. First shut off the gas. I have a gas turn-off near the range. Then I removed the metal panel on my right side and had to remove the cover over the wire hole in the rear panel and squeeze the igniter connector through the that hole in order to free the igniter wires. I then removed the 2 screws holding the igniter onto the burner. I then installed the new igniter by running the wires, plugging the connector together and pushing it back through the wire hole so that the connector was behind the rear panel. Then put the wire cover back on, 1 screw, then attach the igniter to the burner, 2 screws, then remount the metal panel, 1 screw. Time to test: Turned on the gas and set the oven for 300 (just where I wanted to set it for the test). The new igniter glowed much brighter than the old had glowed and soon on came the gas lighting for an expression of success. Thank you all for the help...

Oven would not heat to proper temperature
Because of the location of the nuts for the igniter which were under the heating unit it was very difficult to get a wrench or any tool under it in order to undo them. I had to purchase a 1/4 inch box wrench, as I did not have one, only an open end, in order to make it easier to affix the wrench to the nut. There was not enough room to get any other tool under there and I could only get a i/4 turn each time I tried to loosen it. Finally after about 4 hours I got both nuts loosened. I then had to apply glue to the end of my finger in order to get the nut back into position to attach the new igniter. Then of course it was back to the 1/4 turns. After finally getting both nuts screwed in I then found that the new igniter had a male clip on the end as did the old attahment. So, I had to splice the wires in order to connect the new to the old clip. Finally after around 6 hours the job was complete and the new igniter did its job. The oven now heats to the proper temperature. My knees are still sore from being on them for all that time.

Flat igniter would light but not hot enough to open gas valve
I followed the video. The video says it all plus the person was able to do it with one hand. My lessons learned. The door just pulls out of the way. Wear an old shirt. Be careful of that little connection you need to remove to allow the quick connect to pass through the hole, the materal is very brittle, I broke but was able to put back to cover the connection. I can't see too well and I may have lied about the time it took.Great video, couldn't have made it better except for removing the oven door. Thanks

Oven would not light
I first thought the problem was the unit that let gas into the venture tube because I was getting what I saw was a strong glow on the igniter. Wrong. as I found out after buying that unit. Costly error. I now believe one should first buy the lower price igniter. I have propane so I tighten down on the nut where the gas comes out. Oven works like new. Oh, by the way, first turn of the gas.

Oven would pre-heat but wouldn't maintain temperature.
After removing the bottom plate I needed to pull out the bottom drawer to reach the connector for the igniter. I fiddled around before I finally dug out the manual (downloaded) and saw that it was by the flame adjuster underneath. This would have saved me 20 minutes. Now the oven seems to be working great! I hope this helps

Oven would not light - Igniter Glowed
Much like the provided video, I followed all of the instructions. The only difference is that I needed to use the Ceramic wire nuts to join the new igniter wires to the old ones. There is no removable port to access the igniter plug behind the oven wall as is show in the video. You must strip the wires on the old igniter and the new one and then join them inside the oven with the provided ceramic wire nuts.

Wall oven: light flickered or did not work in a loose poreclain socket.
Shut off power at the panel to the electric oven. Removed 2 phillips screws holding bulb unit in place in the top of teh oven chamber. One wire was so frayed it came out of the push on connector. Stripped off insulation and reinstalled onto the connector, using pliers to snug the wires down. Installed the new porcelain socket from Parts Select, replaced the unit in the top of the oven unit. Installed a new bulb, then snapped the new glass housing into place with the existing retaining wire clip. Presto: works like it's brand new. Thanks to Parts Select for the right parts, and for such quick delivery. I will use them again!
