CAV2004AJW Magic Chef Washer - Instructions

The video is really helpful. The clamps on one of the hoses slowed me down. It took some contorting to get the clamps compressed and at the right angle to secure the hose. My lack of patience was probably the culprit. FYI: My failed pump made no grinding sounds. Nor was there any resistance when turning the pulley. But the problem was indeed the pump. Working well now.

All that had to be done was pull the washer out from the wall, tilt it back and roll the belt off one of the three pulleys and it fell right off of the other two. To install the new belt place it around two of the pulleys and roll it over the edge of the last one. Actually took 15 seconds to change it. Getting the washer out and ready took the most time. Now there is NO noises when it agitates or spins. LOVE IT!

I followed the online video on the Partselect website to replace the snubber ring on my Maytag Washing Machine. It was a very good video. The video had the same exact model even. The gentleman on the video was awesome! This is my second time using Partselect for a DIY job. I fixed my dryer a few years ago by watching one of your videos and purchasing your parts. I will never call a local repair company again. Half the time the don't even show up and then they charge you an exorbitant markup on the parts, not to mention the labor costs. Of course they never have the part in stock and they always have to order it. I did call around my hometown to different places that sell appliance parts... The all said they would have to order the snubber ring ... none had it in stock. So, I bought the parts from Partselect.com, had them shipped overnight and still saved a bunch of money. After I installed the parts, my machine runs perfectly! It has been about two weeks now and it has not been out of balance a single time. I will definitely be a return customer and I will highly recommend your website to all my friends. Thank you!

The videos included in the shipping notification email made the repair a breeze. The only thing not shown was (at least on my washer) that the screws that needed to be removed had torex heads instead of normal slot or phillips heads. Luckily my tool crib had what I needed.

Disconnected in and out hoses. Unscrewed part, screwed in new, reconnected hoses, installed belt and cover panel. Stood up the machine and tested. Good to go.

Slip wire clamps over tube ends. push hose ends over connections, move clamps over hose end, making sure clamps are centered on connections. Easy as could be.

Unrolled the old one off. And rolled the new on .by pulling the driver pulley

Removed front and rear covers, replaced drive belt, tub hose and pump. simple operation. Washer still has some leakage not as bad as original leak. Think I have main tub seal problem. Going to check all hose clamps and run again. If the main seal is problem I will be forced to buy new as the parts cost and difficulty of replacement will be the important factors.

Disconnected hoses and poppped open the top of washer with a flat screw driver from the front. Removed screw holding the water inlet value with a nut driver. Diconnected wires and internal hose from the old valve and attached them to the new valve. Install new valve in place with nut driver. Clossed the top. Reconnected hoses.

First unplugged washer. Found clips on front of machine and lifted the lid back. Took out two 5/16" screws and removed the front panel. Tilted back the washer slightly and took off the drive belt underneath. Started removing the 6 springs with visegrip pliers that support the tub. Then removed the hose on the back left, no pliers needed. Then used pliers to loosen the clip holding the drain hose on the bottom of tub. Moved the clip down, then took off hose. There will be water in the hose, be ready with towel. Watched the video for snubber installation.

Lay the washer on it's side and remove the drive belt. Set back upright. Pry top cover up. Use a small flat bar and try not to damage the porceline. Two hex head screws (one on each side by the tub)holds the frone panel on. Remove those. Panel can now be tilted forward and removed. Pump is on right side. remove the two hoses and save the clamps. remove the three hex head screws holding the pump. Install the new pump and reassemble. Pretty easy.

it is best to watch the video before doing this reapir. Once you see that the job is straight forward, making sure not to remove all of the spring screws is very important.

After inspecting the brake and installing the new pulley/bearing kit the washer still would only spin slowly. Discovered that if the washer agitates at all in the spin cycle then the transmission is shot. So washer was replaced with a new one.
