CAV2000AJW Magic Chef Washer - Instructions

Disconnect water, power and drain lines. Tip machine on side and remove drive belt. Release 2 clips retaining the top. A putty knife inserted here will do the job. Remove 2 screws holding the front panel and lift straight up to remove. Remove rear access panel and remove hose from the water pump. Be prepared to collect a bit of water when doing so. Disconnect the small hose attached to the drum at left rear. Using vise grips adjusted to grip them TIGHTLY, remove the 6 springs attaching the drum assembly to the machine base. Tip the machine on it,s side (unless you have an assistant) and remove the drum assembly slowly as you make sure the pulley at the bottom clears the bottom hole. With the drum resting upside down loosen but DO NOT REMOVE the 6 screws securing the dish shaped metal plate that holds the snubber in place. I used a 1/4" drive socket wrench with a short extension, a universal adaptor and a 5/16" socket. The snubber will spin freely can be easily removed when these screws are loosened enough. Clean the area thoroughly and then insert the new snubber. Be sure to center the new part carefully and tighten the 6 screws evenly and firmly. Return the drum to the machine and reinstall the 6 springs by again gripping them FIRMLY with vise grips and lifting them up until they slip into their positions. This is the hardest part of the job, take your time and be careful. I elected not to replace these with new ones as mine were not weak or broken. Connect the pump hose and small hose at the back of the drum. Attach the front panel and top. Replace the belt. Reconnect hoses and power cord. Leave small panel off the back until you run the machine and check for leaks. Good job.

opened top using screwdriver to release clips, used socket set to remove two screws holding front panel in place, removed water pump by removing 3 screws and 2 hose clamps, and replaced old pump that had a bad bearing with new water pump -

I unplugged power, then tilted washer back, leaning against wall. I removed the fan belt and manually rotated three things (motor, pump, and transmission). The water pump did not rotate smoothly. I then ordered the watere pump. To install the pump, I simply removed the water supply lines and opened the access panel on the back of the washer. Replacing the pump is as easy as removing 3 bolts and two hoses, installing the new one, and reconnecting. Then reconnect water supply and belt on bottom of the washer.

2 screws on each side hold the top of the washer to the front panel,I used a nutdriver to take them out . There are 2 clips on each side at the top of the washer I used a Butter Knife to push the clips in and release the front panel from the top panel ,then slid the front panel out over the bottom clips.I noticed rust in the bearings on the Drain Pump & also noticed alot of water all around the pulley and the belt,not ever having any other problems before figured that was the problem, all hoses were good and it only leaked during the drain process.There are 3 screws that hold the pump in place ,the belt for my particular model is on a swivel system around the motor and the drum just slide motor and the belt comes off,use a set of pliers to unclamp the 2 hoses attatched to the pump.To get to the belt lift washer and slide in something for the washer to rest on.Installing pum is opposite from uninstalling, Good Luck ...

Don't get unhinged by this easy repair. Easily ordered on line and got the part in two days. The only hard part was the screw was inside up under the washer body and not visible. I had to use an "s" shaped screw driver to take out and put in one screw due to the small work space.

I know nothing about washing machines. Couldn't even find the drive from the motor to the drum until I leaned the machine backwards by chance and found the belt drive underneath. Removed belt and checked freedom of spin on motor, drum, and pump. Pump shaft was bent and frozen. Easy $75 fix saved purchase of a new machine. I had a plastic water spill tray under the washer that did not have a flat surface. This tray did not leave enough clearance for the pump wheel. I think that when the washer would sometimes rock during spin cycle, the pump wheel would hit the drip tray and that's why it eventually bent the shaft. This discovery might help others.

First I replaced the Snubber but after I tried the spin cycle, the washer still made banging noises. I removed & replaced all 6 Suspension Springs & now the washer works like a dream

My son raised the washer whilee I removed and replace the drive belt. After replacing the drive belt the loud noise when spinning is still there so don't know where the noise is coming from. The clothes after the spend cycle were normal. The video really help figure where the drive belt was located.

Following the other repair examples posted. Replaced Snubber Ring and 6 tension springs. Washer works great again. No more dancing in the hallway.

remove small panel on backside of washer, 3 screws. removed both intake and out take hoses on pump, clamps only. removed screws holding pump in place,2 i think. removed old pump replaced with new pump.attached both intake and outtake hoses with same clamps.Finished with pump installment. removed old belt by loosening the motor pully and slipping the belt off. placed new belt on pully and drum mechanism. tightened the belt to proper tension. ran a short cycle to ensure working condition then replace back panel.

Determined it was the pump through listening to where the noise came from by taking the back panel off for easy access. The pump is at the back of the unit and was easily accessable. The Motor is on a pivot bracket with springs, so it was easily moved to loosen the belt for removal. After removing the 2 drain hoses with the pliers, the pump came out with 3 screws. Replace the new pump with the reverse procedure. It worked perfectly.

Used pliers to remove spring clamps on either end of hose. Removed hose. Put clamps on end of new hose. Slipped hose ends in place and re-secured with clamps. Another save by PartSelect!

Some springs are more difficult to reach, so disconnecting the entire cabinet from the base to gain access from different angles helps a lot to connect/disconnect the springs.

Watched videos on how to replace the hose. Armed with the information I started the process. But the videos were wrong. After removing a bunch of screws and not getting to the hose I removed the inspection panel on the rear,three screws and there was the hose.simple. I wished I had not watched the videos.
