Direct Drive Water Pump

This direct drive water pump, also known as washing machine drain pump or washer drain pump, is manufactured for washing machines that do not have belts. This is a genuine Whirlpool part with two ports for water to pass through, a large one and a smaller one, that will need replacing if the washer has a defective pump. Tools needed are slip joint pliers, a flat blade screw driver, and a putty knife. Sandpaper might also be needed to remove rust from internal parts to install the new pump. The washer will have to be disconnected from power and tilted on its back.

Door Switch Kit

This part replaces two terminal switches in a dryer and prevents the dryer from running when the door is open. This includes two connectors. If your dryer will not shut off, start, or does not tumble, replacing the door switch can solve this appliance problem. The tools needed for replacement are a screw driver and wire strippers. Make sure to attach the two wires to the right two poles of the new switch, to do this you can check the resistance of the switch. Unplug the dryer before installing this part, also refer to the diagram provided by the manufacturer.

GASKET

This part may also be referred to as a main outer tub seal. This part prevents leaking from the bottom of the tub. The gasket is approximately 2 inches in diameter to the outer edge, black in color, and made of plastic material. To perform this repair, you will need to disconnect the power, drain hose, and the inlet hose. You will need to remove the entire outside cabinet to have access to the tub assembly. The tub will need to be removed entirely. This is a genuine part that is sourced directly from the manufacturer.

The hardest part of this job was pulling the machine away from the wall so the hoses could be disconnected and the machine flipped onto it's back. Putting the machine on it's back does two things. I removed the two spring clips that hold the pump and two wire spring clips that hold the hoses. Then I had to pry the pump off the shaft (it was frozen with rust). Then I cleaned the shaft with sandpaper and installed the new pump (which, by the way, came the next day, thank you very much) which made my wife very happy, and I thank you for that , too. read more
