ADG20L1H Admiral Dryer - Instructions

Need a short handled phillips screwdriver. Unplug dryer from socket. Remove two screws near the bottom of the front panel. Swing the panel to one side so electrical wire doesn't need disconnection. Remove two screws holding bracket over the two coils. Unplug both coils. Plug in new coils. Replace bracket. Replace front panel. Plug machine back into electrical socket. Problem solved.

I have to admit I did not fix this. This dryer is at our beach house and my daughter and her family went down with part in tow. My son in law is an engineer and very smart and handy. He had the dryer purring like a kitten in no te with the part ordered. Thank you Lord and Will!!

I got great advice and the know how form other's instructions. It was a really easy fix. I unplugged the dryer and turned off the gas valve. Open up the dryer by taking out the two screws securing the lint screen. Then pop off the top of the dryer by inserting a screwdriver. Disconnect the door switch and depending on model remove the two screws or bolts that keep the front panel attached. Careful, on my dryer once took the front panel off the drum fell forward. I kept it in place by wedging a small cardboard box under it. Unplug the two wires going into each of the coils. Remember which one goes where(2 prong vs 3 prong). Undue the two screws holding the bracket to the coils and remove bracket and bad coils. Put the new coils in, attach wires and bracket. Put dryer back together. Make sure to remember to plug back in door switch. I forgot and when I tried to test it wouldn't work and it got me worried that I broke it or something.

I feel like I have a new dryer now. I replace 3 of the 4 main components using parts select. Not only did they ship next day, but the tutorial videos with Steven were right on the money and self explanative.

Used the circuit diagram from the dryer compartment to check continuity. found Thermal Fuse open circuit. Viewed PartSelect Youtube video for fitting instructions. Really easy after that.

usually run through these tests first before I have to open until the unit.. establish that your 240 volt breaker didn't trip... If the breaker is okay... Unplug the dryer and use a multimeter to ensure you have 240 volts at the receptacle... If you are okay there... next check the door switch... You can press the button and you should hear a click... If you hear it click you should be okay there... Okay let's open the top... There are 2 black latches on the unit towards each side... You can use a flathead screwdriver or a putty knife to depress the clips while pulling gently upwards on the lid and it will open...from past experience fixing dryers I knew that more than likely it was the thermal fuse.... With the unit still unplugged... Look towards the back of the unit you will see the heating element...There is a thermostat and the thermal fuse on the bracket with the element... The thermal fuse is the small black and silver thing about the diameter of a dime. What the thermal fuse does is protects the unit if it should get too hot... pretty much a safety mechanism... What you want to do is remove the screw holding the little bracket that houses the fuse and remove it... It is a little tight back there this is why I remove it...Next remove the 2 wires and test the fuse using a continuity test making sure that you have a closed circuit... If it's an open circuit that would be your problem... Order the high limit thermostat kit... You should replace the thermostat also which comes in the kit...remove the 2 screws holding the thermostat down and once you get your replacement parts just replace the thermostat and fuse and you'll be good to go...

Unplug the Dryer; remove the lower exterior cover and white plastic drum vent with nut drivers. These two fuses will be setting on top of the function board in front of the gas heating tube.
With a short screwdriver, remove the fuse cover/holder, lift fuse and unplug, replace, re-plug, screw back the cover/holder and you’re done.
Reverse your initial actions...

I replaced the two coils that regulate the gas to turn on and the other to hold open to burn, unplug two connections and remove 2 screws and then replace the coils less then 5 minutes to do this,

Followed directions on movie. This was a simple process. Although in the end I found that replacing the rollers was not the problem in the end. It turned out to be the motor, which I was able to repair with some prior experience with electric motors and a bit of oil. That's why it took as long as it did to make the total repair. Still happy with the outcome.

Igniter would glow and flame would burn for about 30 seconds then a rattling noise would start and the flame would go out. Replaced the coil and all is well. Very simple and inexpensive. One of the easiest repairs I've ever done. Video was very helpful.

Both washer and dryer always worked perfectly. Suddenly, dryer wasn’t drying laundry properly. Problem... no heat. Cheapest price I could find calling for appliance service was about $160 to replace coil set but no one would tell me this would fix the problem. This was after calling a number of repair firms and trying to get a somewhat close estimate of what my problem was and what the repair cost. Not knowing, I might have just paid the $160 but what turned me off was having a service call fee of anywhere from $50-$80 with no one willing to tell me what the problem might most likely be before coming out or give me an estimate over the phone other than a range of $160 - $275. I just did not want to have someone come out for $50 -$80 and tell me that I needed to spend $275 and still owe them the service call even if I did not agree.
Found diagnostic and repair instructions help on line. The diagnostic information indicated a high probability, roughly 50%, that replacing the coil set would solve the problem and found the coil set cost $19.21 plus shipping, so I ordered the coil kit for total of $26.70. Note... I am a 71 year old amateur never having worked as a repairman of any kind except for my own needs.
The repair itself took less than 30 minutes start to finish and was one of the most straight forward, glitch free, easy repairs I have ever done. This is a gas dryer but still uses 110 power so I unplugged the 110 power cord from outlet. Followed suggested guidance on opening the dryer cabinet from the front and presto, the coil set I needed to replace was immediately right in front with easy access. Removed 2 screws for the hold-down bracket, slipped off both coils, one at a time, removing the wiring connection for each coil and then reconnecting to each new coil before slipping each new coil back into place and reattaching the hold down bracket. Reinstalled the dryer door and cabinet front in reverse order from taking off... 4 screws total. Plugged in the 110 power cord and put in a damp load of freshly washed laundry. Presto... 30 minutes later... dry laundry. Note... could do the same repair again in half the time since I took it slow and careful 1st time and also took time to remove dust before completing repair. I like things to look like new inside and out and it did when I was done. $26.70 and good as new. Why I didn't spend $160 - $275 is pretty obvious now.

The video for the Heat Kit replacement is excellent. However, i could not replace the fuse without removing the heating coil. It was the only way my hands could get the fuse bracket out/then in. I accidently inverted the heating coil when trying to replace it, and struggled for a minute or so. Be sure your HC coil is in the same position as when you removed it. You might want to include the heating coil removal as a standard part of the replacement video. He specifically mentioned NOT having to remove the coil. Otherwise the video and and the instructions are perfect. You need to make sure you clean out the tubing/vent prior to replacing the thermostat and fuse. Otherwise you are wasting you time. Perfect repair, easily done..luv it.

I first replaced the temperature sensor. That did not help and when doing investigation when thr drier was warm I found the vallve would open and close if I touched the coils

Repair itself was not hard, Pop top, unscrew front panel and pull forward to get at the coils under the drum. --THIS IS THE KEY POINT i ENCOUNTERED: I tested the coils and the resistance was right according to the schematic. But still the flame would go out after while. --on a whim I pulled the front cover and tested the coils immediately after the flam wouldn't re-light.---When the coil got warm, it would open (no continuity). When it cooled down again the correct continuity would return. Replaced the coil and no more problem
