Dryer made intermittant LOUD SQUEAL noises
We replaced the Drum Rollers, Belt and Glides the first weekend. This DID NOT stop the noise(very loud squealing noise). I decided it had to be the Idler. Instead of replacing just the Wheel, I replaced the whole unit. Took the front of the Dryer off again, took out the Tumbler, removed the 2 screws on the motor assembly tray, moved it a couple inches forward to gain access to the Idler. R&R the Idler( a little contortion for the arms and wrists, but not horrible) and put it all back to together. Works perfectly and ZERO NOISE. YOU CAN DO THIS. Just be patient and give yourself an hour to save $180.00!!!

Screeching noises
My dryer was making some awful noises. First thought was the belt. Eventually isolated it to the wheel on the idler lever. I had the driver taken apart and could cause the noise by turning the wheel by hand. I decided to replace the support rollers and drum glides at the same time. I highly recommend watching the installation video. I can't tell you how much it helped to see the repair done. Especially the magic incantation on how to open up the dryer to make the repair. For me the most difficult part was getting the new belt on during re-assembly. There is very little room to work underneath the drum to connect the belt to the idler pully and motor. I was successful in connecting those first and then working it around the drum second.

Squealing when running
I had already taken the dryer apart prior to changing the felt seal. Had oiled the rollers, greased the bearings & vacuumed the whole inside of the dryer out. Had used a high temp lubricant on the seal & had stopped squeaking for about a month. I ordered 2 seals & when they arrived, I popped the top of the dryer off using the putty knife to pry the spring latches. I opened the top up & leaned it against a wall. I disconnected the wiring to the light & the switch in the door, making note of the wiring order. Then used a nut driver to take the 2 screws from the inside out, that holds the front cover in place. Then the same for the 4 screws holding the front bulkhead in place. Then lifted up & out from the unit. Then used the putty knife to scrap the adhesive & old seal off the bulkhead. Cleaned as much of the adhesive off, then applied some high temp silicone adhesive to the bulkhead, placed the new seal on, using some clamps to hold it in place. After making sure it had adhered to the seal & bulkhead. Did the reversal of the above mentioned steps. Moved the unit to laundry room, plugged it in then started it & voila no more squeaking dryer.

needed new dryer belt
The repair went better than expected. I watched the video of how to replace the dryer belt and although it wasn't exactly the same, just by watching the video I was able to find my way through the process. Thank you very much for taking the time to create the video, it was very helpful and saved me a bundle of money by being able to do the repair myself. Thanks again!!! Dano, Melbourne Fl.

Lint filter on older dryer collapsed
This is merely taking the old filter out and putting the new filter in. You will not find this part unless you go online or get lucky and find one in a used dryer. It is not necessary but I do recommend vacuuming the inside of the dryer beneath the filter. It is amazing how much lint can be in there.

Squeal,drum noise
I used a putty knife to depress the top locks which then i could set the top back.Remove the two screws on the inside of front top to release the front base.Lifted front cover up and out of the chassis. Then i removed the front blower cover which has 4 screws holding it and gently pulled out. I then reached into the back and released the idler lever so i could remove the belt from the motor.I then pulled lightly on the drum and removed it also. At this point i remove the idler lever and reinstalled the components. I find the maytag machines are very easy to work on.Dryer works like new. Parts Select is a great place to get the needed parts, very fast turn around time on the parts and also great prices.
