The humidistat control, used in dehumidifiers, switches the dehumidifier on and off automatically to maintain humidity. If the switch does not work, the humidifier will not maintain the temperature properly. For this repair, screwdrivers are the only tools needed. First remove the knob and the screws from the top. Pry back the plastic retainers on one side of the old humidistat and remove wires before installing the new part and reattaching the two wires that connect to it. Float Clip

The float clip works in a humidifier to ensure the float functions properly. The float is located near the humidifier bucket and monitors the water level as it rises and the clip keeps it in place. The float makes sure the water level is balanced and does not over flow. This float triggers the flow switch to shut off. If there is a defect with the clip, it can be a safety hazard as it might not be able to detect and stop an overflow. Make sure to unplug the dehumidifier from the power source before starting this replacement project as a safety precaution.
