Rope connecting balance spring to door broke
Ordered new kit, an improved version of the original, which arrived the next day. Removing the dishwasher and reinstalling same took over an hour. Removing the bad part and installing the door balance link kit on both sides of the door took the 15 minutes. I watched the installation video shown at the partselect site which helped. No instructions came with the parts.

Door became instantly very heavy.
Having replaced one side before, I knew what to do. The whole unit has to come forward a few inches. Kill the power, but do not disconnect any lines or hoses. Both my ceramic floor tile, and counter edge are in the way. The edge I can pry off; then I can lift the front legs up onto the tile and slide out a bit to find and replace the broken line. Probably one side is still intact and can serve as a pattern for the other. The spring has to hook to the rear frame, and be pulled quite hard to reattach. I bent a clothes hanger to shape and pulled while my friend hooked the new piece to the door. Pushed back, replaced bottom plate, and reinstalled counter trim. Good as new!

Door balance link broke, door falls when opened
Pulled diswasher out, removed old part, hooked end of new cord to spring and other end to post (by hand, easy). Also replaced the cord guide/roller with a revised part that came in the kit (both sides, one screw) that eliminated the terrible noise the door previously made whenever it was opened (since new).

The cord broke
Make sure the dishwasher is empty (to keep the weight down) Removed bottom plate of dishwsher. Removed screws attaching dishwasher to the countertop. Lowered dishwasher (foot balancers). Slid dishwasher out. Found spring on broken balance kit. Removed old plastic pulley by removing mounting screw (new part has two wheels that spin to prevent the cords from breaking - less tension) put in new plastic pulleys Upper part has to be alliigned and turned 1/4 turn then secure with screw on lower end. Attach cord to spring. THEN pull on the spring to give some slack to the cord and then feed into the serpentine mechanism. I first tried to put it though the two pulleys and then attach the spring to the frame. This was impossible. If you just attach it to the frame first, you can easily feed it through the two pulleys in just 20 seconds. Since the new mechanism is better, I did both sides this time. The second side took only 2 minutes, while the first side took 10. After you attach these slide the dishwasher back in place. Reallign it with the cabinet. Reattach the upper screws to the countertop. Re-raise the dishwasher with the adjusting screws on the feet so it is level and at the proper height. Put back on the lower plates with the two screws. And then start washing dishes.

door drops when open
The door balance kit comes with two pullys and two cords, one for each side of the door. The cords have plastic tips which wear out and break every few years. Just slide the dishwasher out about 1/2 way and snap the new cords between the door and the spring going around the pully. It is easy to see and easy to reach. I received my door balance kit from Partslect in about 3 days. Thanks, Partslect, you saved me a service call and a long wait while they ordered the parts.

Rope break on the door balance system
Pulled the dishwasher out of the cabinet, set the rope with the plastic ends on the spring and lever for the door and pulled the spring into it's holder and returned the washer into the cabinet. I ordered the part on the 27 in the morning and it got here on the 28th in the afternoon. Local part store wanted $40.00 for the same kit and I got it from you at less than 25.00. I also got to skip the service fee which would probably be about 65 dollars.

Broken plastic clip that holds the cord.
Followed instructions on the web video and the paper that came with the part. The spring was very difficult to stretch to hook the cord. Skinned my knuckles and required a helper to get it together.
