one of plastic clips that attach spring & cord to door had broken off. Only one side was still attached; thereby, door lost tension, when opened.
I replaced both brackets and cords. the hardest problem was attaching spring to frame housing of dishwasher since I didn't want to pull dw completely out of cabinet area because of water copper line connection and power connection. I had to use grip plyers to hold spring as I streached spring to connect to cable.

Loud Grinding Sound - Pump Motor and Impeller Unit
The dishwasher made a loud grinding sound when it ran. We looked at new dishwashers and they're still basically the same, but the $$$ is so high. We looked at the reports PartSelect.com and after reading the reports, decided it was the pump motor/impeller unit and ordered it online. FIRST, read all the other installation stories. It will save you time. You will save unnecessary steps. In the end, it wasn't actually as bad as it sounded. So, here are the steps I took to install the new pump motor with impeller unit. ONE: turn off the water supply TWO: turn off the power (I had a dedicated circuit breaker just for the dishwasher)THREE: disconnect the water supply at the pipe(not the dishwasher) FOUR: Disconnect the drain hose at the drain(not the diswasher)FIVE: remove whatever screws are holding the unit inside the base cabinet SIX: pull out the diswasher(carefully watch the wires, hoses and insulation) SEVEN: tip the dishwasher forward (lay it on rags, watch for water)EIGHT: Disconnect the electrical supply plug to the pump (it's a plug-type connection, squeeze the edges to release)NINE: remove the one bolt holding the motor on the pump assembly and the heat sheild(you'll need a ratchet with extension) TEN: turn the pump motor counter-clockwise and pull it off. ELEVEN: align the arrows on the new motor of the pump and mounting assembly. TWELEVE: clean the o-ring on the pump and lubriate with drying agent THIRTEEN: place the motor on the pump assembly rotated counter clock-wise a bit past the bolt hole and press until it seats. FOURTEEN: turn the motor clock-wise to engage the locking mechanism and align the bolt hole. FIFTEEN: replace the bolt and heat shield. SIXTEEN:reconnect the power plug SEVENTEEN: tip-up the dishwasher, slide the unit back under the cabinet. EIGHTEEN: reconnect the drain, water, and power. NINETEEN: turn-on the water and restore the power TWENTY: test(start a wash cycle) the unit to be sure it doesn't leak. TWENTY: if all is good, replace screws holding the dishwsher in the cabinet(otherwise you will have to back-track to find your error - I didn't). And that's it! Now it's running smooth and silent, just as before. Good luck!

Soap dispenser would not close
Removed door cover (six screws), removed dispenser (six star screws), installed new dispenser, replaced door cover. Being 76 years old didn't hinder the project. Replaced dispenser latch that had come out of removed dispenser, thus making the removed dispenser useable again as a backup. Would recommend trying to repair dispenser before ordering new part.

No power to dishwasher
A power surge blew out a number of my appliances, including the dishwasher. I have a stainless steel KitchenAid model. Getting to the control panel was a bit difficult. The entire front panel had to come off. Once I did that, and get a look at the control board and bi-metal fuse, I saw that the fuse had blown (turned black) and part of the control board was black as well. So, it was back on-line to PartSelect to order a electronic control board. Once that arrived (in 2 days...shipping was really fast for both parts), I installed the control board and followed the instructions for installing the bi-metal fuse. There were no instructions on how to install the control board. But it's really self-explanitory! I took a picture of the board before disconnecting it to make sure I plug the same wires into the same ports. I then saw that the control board has color labels for the wires: brown, purple, blue, etc. All-in-all, it was REALLY EASY to replace both these parts. Once I completed the install, I plugged the dishwasher back into the recepticle and started a wash cycle. It worked just like new. All-in-all, it was REALLY EASY to replace these parts. It cost be about $180 for both parts. I'm sure if I called in a repair person, the cost would've been 3-times that!

Door Balance Link Kit
First challenge was getting a model number match. The telephone parts ordering rep convinced me to get a ...SS6 replacement. Said his database did not show the ...SS7 installed in my home. As to how I did the repair, I looked at the video available as a part of ordering the replacement parts. The video seemed quite appropriate and accurate except that spring tension was under-stated in the video. In fact, it was made to look like there was no issue in reconnecting the tension springs. Not! Took some effort and a bit of wrestling in a difficult body position to reconnect the tension springs. On the other hand, all of the self-replacement task far beat paying an exorbitant house visit fee by an authorized repair person.

wheel mounts were broken when someone bumped dishwasher while open
We had two broken wheel mounts resulting from a child swinging a younger child over the open dishwasher and hitting the rack with a sideways thrust. Once before we had a problem like this with one of the mounts, and not knowing about you or about the repair process, we had an appliance repairman come out - $225. This time we replaced all four so we eliminated any possible damage we weren't aware of and the total was about $75 and 15 minutes. The instructions were very easy to follow, thanks for the savings!

The motor was making an loud sound and the dishes were not clean.
I watched a video that should how to take the motor and housing assembly out. I ordered a part from a competitor, but it was the wrong part ( This was after putting in my Kitchenaid model number). The thermodor opening was too big. Unfortunately, no one was able to help me find the right part. i search online again and found partselect.com. I was able to find the exact part right away. I was thankful that they had a better picture to make sure I got the right part. My part arrived within a few days. My husband was out of town for the week, and I was tired of washing dishes. My husband had taken pictures of the motor and wiring. I asked him to send me the pictures. I was happy to have the pictures to make sure the wiring was correct. I had great success installing the motor and housing assembly by myself. No dishes in the sink tonight and no leaks! I should have been a plumber instead of a teacher. I installed the dishwasher 8 years ago. I also installed the garbage disposal. I have watched too many repairmen fix my appliances for hundreds of dollars. I have always thought "I can do that! " ... so now I do.

No lights on the control panel
I first checked the power to the dishwasher. Then searched the web. I found a video that described the problem. I found the cut-off fuse and tested the conductivity -- it was blown. So I ordered the thermal cut-off fuse for the dishwasher. It came in 2 days! It was easy to install. You take the cover off the door and pop the cover off the controls; cut the wires; install the new part; and put the door back together. Actually the hardest part was getting the door back together. Worked fine first time.

Detergent dispenser door had broken off (a YEAR ago).
Simply remove the front cover of the dishwasher, attached by 6 screws. This is where you'll need a TORXhead (star shaped bit) screwdriver. Once the cover's set aside, you'll see a plastic flap covering the dispenser. Unplug the wire connector from the bottom of the dispenser & unscrew 6 small screws with a nutdriver or small socket wrench. The OLD dispenser will be be removed from 'inside' the door & the new one installed the same way. Holding the NEW dispenser in place with one hand, start your screws back into it from the outside, making sure it remains properly aligned. *Be sure to insert the plastic cover flap onto the outside of the dispenser, BEFORE reattaching the holding bracket. Plug in your wire connector & reattach the washer's cover. It may sound difficult from this, but it's SUPER SIMPLE, & my wife now KNOWS I'm WONDERFUL, cuz we saved a BUNCH of money by me doing it, instead of a washer repairman. Good Luck!! RJ

Dishwasher would run, but dishes were not clean. It ran through all cycles, filled and removed water.
Removed the baskets. Had difficulty removing the lower arm until I found that the small plastic button that I thought was a cover for a mounting screw was actually a reverse threaded plastic screw. Removal of the cover/strainer revealed a lot of black gunk that was removed with a shop vac. Problem was found to be a gunked up screen that was starving the water pump and negating any cleaning action spray. This had caused the scraper to shear its plastic socket that fitted over the pump shaft. I ordered a new screen with the scraper from Part Select. Installation was a little tricky as the screen had to be slipped into a slot while the spring loaded socket was retracted for clearance to pass by the end of the pump shaft. I fitted a pair of small. flat bladed pliers over the spring loaded shaft to depress the spring and allow the socket to pass by the shaft. I removed the pliers and the socket snapped into place. Reinstalled all of the covers, ducts, and baskets and this 22 year old dishwasher now works fine. All for the $32.00 cost of the screen and scraper.
