Fridge water dispenser started firing randomnly
First locked the control panel to prevent more water from coming out. Then figured out how to remove the panel (using torque bit), along with the control board and switch. Removed the switch from the assembly, and used a multimeter to diagnose that the switch was intermittently closing. Searched using Google to find the switch part number, and was able to get the best price and match at PartSelect without having to order in bulk. I'm always wary about ordering off eBay, and prefer dealing directly with a supply company. Once the new switch came, it was a snap to install it and reassemble the water dispenser board and front panel. Once assembled, the dispenser worked like new! Overall, it took about an hour or less of diagnosing and work, plus wait time for ordering, and about $25 for the part. Beat calling a repairman and paying $100 for the same work.

My ice chute dispenser door quit opening and closing properly
I replaced the door kit, solenoid and return spring. The old door was worn out and was no longer attached to the return spring. The repair was very simple and the instruction kit sent with the replacement parts was extremely informative and helpful. This repair took less then five minutes.

The touch pad on the face of the fridge would not activate the ice or water dispensers
Pretty simple really...take out a couple screws and the face plate comes off. Take out the dispenser apparatus behind the face plate and you will see the little lever operated switch that activates the dispensers. Mine had one terminal slightly discolored like it got hot...so that is a good clue. Also, the whole system is pretty simple really, and the switch was clearly the culprit. I got the replacement switch from PartSelect in just a few days, and put it in. The whole deal only takes about 1/2 hour cradle to grave. The dispensers work fine now, and I think I saved at least $150 for a service call. BIG PAPA small

Ice maker not producing ice & ice door not closing
After receiving the parts to repair the ice door, I replaced the solenoid and new chute door without problem. Then a problem I had been experiencing for well over a year, re-emerged. No Ice! I realized the icemaker was old, over 12 years and that the Teflon within the wells as well as the contacts for the timer were well worn. The ease of finding parts and the instructions provided by PartSelect, (written, video and users), I would attempt the replacement of the Ice Maker. When I examined the Freezer, I also identified that the Ice Maker shelf and enclosure (where the auger that drives the ice) was broken and barely hanging in place. I quickly identified the additional parts and ordered them. The total repair took about 60 minutes. and was treated to the sound of ice dropping into the bin by early evening. I am very pleased with the service, the quality of the products and the helpful hints from fellow users. I have added PartSelect to my IE favorites and it will be my first stop when I need repairs for any of my appliances.

The foam seal on the ice door deteriorated
The original ice door was deteriorated because of age (12 yrs). This caused humid outside air to enter the ice chute and resulted in a buildup of ice in and around the chute. Ice coming out of the reservoir was impeded and got stuck constantly in the chute. I ordered a new ice door kit and it installed easily. Then I noticed the ice door actuator pad was worn so I ordered that. things are working better now. One thing I learned, If you are replacing parts in a component of a 12 year old refrigerator, replace everything in that component at the same time. Otherwise you will order three different times and pay the shipping fee three times. You learn by experience. PartsSelect was very prompt in sending the parts that I needed. The schematics on the website made it very easy to order what I needed. I just should have ordered everything at once. Next time I will know better. Thanks for what you do.

The shut off for the water dispenser would not shut off when switch was released
I had to do this repair three years ago and found that the instructions provided by PartSelect were perfect. The video links provided this time on how to disassemble, do repair, and reassemble were extremely helpful. I followed those instructions and completed the job in less than one-half hour. The water now shuts down as it should. I really cannot add to the helpful write-ups by other customers. Thanks

Water not being supplied to ice maker
Very simple. Viewed the video that was linked to the web-page and followed the instructions. Longest part of the process was removing and re-attaching the cover on the back of the refrigerator. The video can do more to describe the repair than my words.

ice maker inopeative
went on line and ordered new ice maker for this model refrigerator. Received the new part. New icemaker provided video for replacement of ice maker.Used the video showing the removal and replacement of the ice maker to begin the removal process. (must remove one mounting screw, then raise the icemaker up then out to unlatch the fixture.) This took over one hour, then had to remove wiring arness. Instrucions indicated to "squeez" the locking clip holding the connector, it is impossible to see the connector so it was a "feel" process. It turned out that squeesing the connector from the sides, did not work, finally squeezing the locking clip (top to bottom) finally released the connector. Then the installation (per video) reversed the removal procedure and that turned out to be about a two hour task because to align the ice maker when you cannot see the alignment / holding brackets was a very difficullt task. Then when it was finally installed, the one mounting screw, would not align with the previous mounting hole, because the tab on the new one was longer, requiring drilling a new hole to hold the icemaker in place. The hole had to be made using the same (self-tapping) screw, since the space available when the icemaker is installed is very limited. After the mounting hole was partally made, driving the screw the rest of the way had to be done with a ratchet, other then that, everything was just great.

The door to the ice dispenser broke off
When calling to see what the repair would cost my prices ranged from 250.00 to 175.00 with parts and labor. But I decided to tackle this project myself after watching the installation video. My parts arrived quickly and I watched the video had my repair completed within 30min and saved myself over 100.00 dollars. Thank you PartSelect!! The step by step instructions made this project a breeze.

Plastic tip broke off the insulated flap. Would not seal against icemaker.
Removed two screws from face plate then nudged plate up until it cleared the two top screws. Removed three screws holding the actual kit in place. Gently pulled the unit forward and pulled the water tube out from above the kit, then disconnected the wires connecting the unit. At this time the unit is separated from the refrigerator and you can disconnect the solenoid to remove it. The plunger in the solenoid was a little different from the old one as it connects to the insulator flap bar but Partselect has made a good/easy modification for replacement. Before installation I recommend lubricating the plastic actuator switch. Reverse the procedures you used to access the unit. Very easy.
