Removed dispenser unit, replaced solenoid and door support, and reassembled. Repair video on website was extremely helpful. Only needed door support but found it was easier to order and install the entire assembly with the new door. Item number PS2003478

Fridge water dispenser started firing randomnly

First locked the control panel to prevent more water from coming out. Then figured out how to remove the panel (using torque bit), along with the control board and switch. Removed the switch from the assembly, and used a multimeter to diagnose that the switch was intermittently closing. Searched using Google to find the switch part number, and was able to get the best price and match at PartSelect without having to order in bulk. I'm always wary about ordering off eBay, and prefer dealing directly with a supply company. Once the new switch came, it was a snap to install it and reassemble the water dispenser board and front panel. Once assembled, the dispenser worked like new! Overall, it took about an hour or less of diagnosing and work, plus wait time for ordering, and about $25 for the part. Beat calling a repairman and paying $100 for the same work.

The touch pad on the face of the fridge would not activate the ice or water dispensers

  • Customer: GEORGE from Chapel Hill NC
  • Difficulty: Easy
  • Time to Complete: 30 - 60 mins
  • Tools Required: Screw drivers

Pretty simple really...take out a couple screws and the face plate comes off. Take out the dispenser apparatus behind the face plate and you will see the little lever operated switch that activates the dispensers. Mine had one terminal slightly discolored like it got hot...so that is a good clue. Also, the whole system is pretty simple really, and the switch was clearly the culprit. I got the replacement switch from PartSelect in just a few days, and put it in. The whole deal only takes about 1/2 hour cradle to grave. The dispensers work fine now, and I think I saved at least $150 for a service call. BIG PAPA small

After receiving the parts to repair the ice door, I replaced the solenoid and new chute door without problem. Then a problem I had been experiencing for well over a year, re-emerged. No Ice! I realized the icemaker was old, over 12 years and that the Teflon within the wells as well as the contacts for the timer were well worn. The ease of finding parts and the instructions provided by PartSelect, (written, video and users), I would attempt the replacement of the Ice Maker. When I examined the Freezer, I also identified that the Ice Maker shelf and enclosure (where the auger that drives the ice) was broken and barely hanging in place. I quickly identified the additional parts and ordered them. The total repair took about 60 minutes. and was treated to the sound of ice dropping into the bin by early evening. I am very pleased with the service, the quality of the products and the helpful hints from fellow users. I have added PartSelect to my IE favorites and it will be my first stop when I need repairs for any of my appliances.

First of all, I am a woman and I don't have a lot of tools but I do like to try to fix things on my own before shelling out $ for a professional repair. I found and followed their YouTube video to fix the fridge. To begin with (before I even ordered the part) I needed to find out if it could be something other than the actuator pad that needed to be replaced so I took everything apart (pretty easy) and checked to make sure that the 'Limit switch' was clicking and able to be depressed by the tip of the actuator pad (the actuator pads connects with the Limit Switch which activates the ice flow). It did click. So I figured the Limit Switch was not the problem so I put everything back together and ordered the actuator pad. When it arrived I was already a pro at knowing what needed to be done. I had it replaced in about 15 minutes and its working great!! Thank you so much for your videos on You Tube. I wouldn't have known what to do. You saved me a bundle of money!! Blessings to you all. Unplugged refrigerator 1st to avoid shocks. Easy. Would recommend cleaning contacts prior to replacing cover. Works like a charm now! Thx. DB

I had to do this repair three years ago and found that the instructions provided by PartSelect were perfect. The video links provided this time on how to disassemble, do repair, and reassemble were extremely helpful. I followed those instructions and completed the job in less than one-half hour. The water now shuts down as it should. I really cannot add to the helpful write-ups by other customers. Thanks
