Coupling teeth broken
I should have watched the video, and/or splurged and bought the little wrench to hold the motor shaft. To be clear, the video has you use a flat-head screw driver to PRY the old coupler off the threaded motor shaft - not to unscrew it. You might be able to unscrew it (particularly if you have the wrench), but my coupler would not unscrew even after I used penetrating oil. Eventually, I used a pair of vice grips to pry it off - somewhat similar to the method employed in the video. I thought I would strip the threads on the shaft, but I did not. Then I simply screwed on (counter-clockwise) the new coupler and the blender is as good as ever.

Broken Coupling and worn-out seal on a Blender
To start with the coupling, I followed the directions by using a flat screwdriver and a thick towel. I placed the towel under the screwdriver to protect the base unit from damage as I pivoted 1/2 of the tip under the coupling, pulling it up as I went around until the coupling popped off. Then I cleaned the remainder of any metal left behind. Then I attempted to screw the coupling on clockwise but the screw opening was slightly to small. So I plugged in the unit and held the coupling with the screwdriver in place and turn the unit on stir and it screwed it on clockwise.
Next, the seal was replaced at the bottom of the jar. And I was finished. Easy as pie.

rubber coupling had broken teeth...
I followed the included instructions.

Removal of the old coupling was easily done by gently prying it up. The threads on ot are much softer that the shaft.

Screwed the new coupling on and done.

I also bought two of these couplings as the rubber on it WILL break off again.

Vibration and the soung of motor stuck.
Simply to find the look of dismay in her face. After I violently began shaking and dismantling the compactor in disgust. I decided to unplug it from the wall, I then gathered my senses and began to perform a electrical diagnosis and found that the rotary swich contacts, which activates the compactor, had gone bad. I simply went to the website and selected my part # from the detailed spec sheet. I chose to receive the package on a three day shipment. Here it arrived, installed the part and away the problem went. While on the parts list I included bag brackets that had broke over time and now my compactor is like new.

coupling had broken a couple of pieces off
Intructions were simple. Pried off the old coupling with the screwdriver and applied presser to replace the new one on the spindle.

Comment: KitchenAid appliances are made to last unlike most other small kitchen appliances. They are made of strong materials and repairable where as other similar products get thrown out when they break.

Being an aircraft mechanic for years I pride my self on being able to fix anything that my wife buys. So I tried to replace the drive gear for her kitchen aid blender without reading the instructions, much easier to read.
Thanks,

Drive coupling had broken teeth
Forget about the repair blogs. The coupling includes a repair instruction sheet. It actually took longer to read the sheet than it did to do the repair. Follow the repair sheet instructions. Very easy, however not intuitive.

The fingers where sheared off so the blade would not turn.
Pretty muched followed the directions, but after reading all the reviews I knew what do to before the part arrived. Super easy. My blender had been out of commission for a while...now I'm back in business. Well worth the $14 (part and shipping).

The coupling for my blender disintegrated
The repair is easy. Just follow the directions that come with the replacement part. And parts select is awesome. I received the parts within a couple of days and fixed it right away.

I will definitely use this company again. The blender was over $120 when I brought it and I did not want to spend that kind of money again. My cost to fix was about $8.00 for the part and $7.00 for shipping. Hmmmm, $15 vs. $120+ sounds like a good deal to me.
Thank you.

replace the drive coupling
I couldn't unscrew the old coupling (left hand thread) so I carefully sawed a piece off being careful (the somewhat difficult part of the job) not to damage the threads on the drive motor. Then I used pliers to remove the rest of the drive coupling. Then it's just a matter of screwing on the new coupling. Good as new and I didn't have to buy a new $150 blender.
