One day the ice cream in the freezer seemed mushy, but the ice was still frozen. There was not water in the ice bin. However, the problem resolved itself. This suggested that the defrost timer had become stuck for an extended time, but then continued to run. The fact that the freezer went back to frozen, implies that all the components of the cooling loop (compressor, condenser & fan, evaporator & fan) were fine. It was possible that the problem was caused by a bad defrost (?evaporator?) thermostat but everything I saw on line suggested that the defrost timer is the culprit about 40 - 50% of the time. Anyway, I followed the instructions in the on-line video at this site for replacing the defrost timer and it was easy. It would have only taken 15 minutes, but I spent a while reading the defrost timer instructions and hunting down a schematic for my refrigerator, to determine which pin the loose wire should go on.

Sorry for delay in writing. Part I ordered arrived two days ago and it was exactly what I needed. Knowing that there will be problems even with the smallest job I procrastinated starting. When I did start this morning I foud I had to completely remove the ice maker and disassemble it in order to install the water fill cup bracket. The challenge was reassembling the unit. Not hard for an experienced repairman but a challenge for layman. Everything is thing is back to gether now and power on cooling down the refrigerator. Won't know how successful it was until turn on water and ice is formed. If it works this saved $75 just to get a Sears repairman to come out and tell me what would be needed to fix the refrigerator and $1,000 if I had to buy a new refrigerator. Extremely satisfied with service I received. Thank you.

Greatest thing about this company was properly describing in an easy clear manner along with the video. A picture is worth a thousand words. A video is worth? Disconnecting wires in back of freezer was a little hard. I didn't know you would have to wait for a complete cycle before the water would fill and make the first batch of ice. I thought it was not hooked up properly and took it back apart. This time I left it, waited and in a few hours, it started making the first batch of ice. Great company, price and fast shipping. Remove freezer shelves, panel, and change fan.

Put in new motot and control

Replace the auger drum. I had order it and the auger, but I did not need the auger. I returned the auger with ease. Parts Select will always have my business.

Removed 3 screws pulled out the old part and replaced it with the new one. Then plugged in the refrigerator and the repair was complete.

Took ice maker main cover off. Took nut driver to remove wire cover. Unplug wiring. Slid out old unit. Put extra parts from old unit to new one required for my model. Slid new unit in.. Plugged in wiring. Installed wire covering.

I removed the on/off bail wire. I then removed the cap over the motor/control panel. I removed the 3 screws, lifted old unit out, installed new unit and then put everything back together. I had ice within 12 hours and it's run like a top since. I am a 64 y/o widow & I try to repair everything myself to save money. I'm very pleased with Part Select & will recommend them to everyone. FOllowed the vedio instructions which made the installation very helpfull.

First, I went online and looked up the directions to remove the ice maker. After several attempts of removing and re-installing it, I found that one of the tines on the wheel had broken of making it impossible for the ice to dispense. I went online to PartSelect, found the exact part I needed, not the new replacement one either, and watched the proper installation directions on the website. When the part came, I did exactly what the video said, which took me maybe 10 minutes, and plugged the fridge back in - make sure you unplug the refrigerator - don't just shut it off!! I heard the water going into the maker, and about 30 minutes later I heard the first batch of ice fall into the bucket!!! It was music to my ears!!!! Oh, and by ordering from PartSelect and doing this simple repair myself, I saved $150.00!! PartSelect is now my new best friend!!!

Remove icemaker, take off Icemaker control & motor ( 3 screws ) & install new part. Started making ice in less than 24 hours. Very happy customer.

I just simply eliminated the ice buildup with hot water and a knife. But I still have the Defrost Timer Kit for future use.

My ice make had stopped working and I thought it was a water connection issue, however, after removing the motor cover, the plastic gear just fell to the floor. I wrote down the model number and looked the part up online. I ordered the part and it arrived a few days later. Three screws and a new motor and I had a working ice maker. Great experience.
