Stove not lighting and taking forever to preheat
My mom did the repair for me. We did not have the right tools for the job which made it harder to do. First I flipped the breaker. Then we took out the oven racks. We then took the bottom metal part off the oven. This exposed the shield part and we removed it. Then she cut the wires and connected the new igniter the same way the old one was connected. It took about thirty minutes. We could do it again in about fifteen with the right tools. We went and priced new stoves the cheapest was 350.00. I'm so excited that my stove is working properly again.

Oven wouldn't heat and oven wouldn't light
I took the entire bottom inside of the oven apart except for the gas tube. The first time I did this it lit up, but it was so slow to heat. About 2 weeks later the oven wouldn't even light. I took the bottom out again and turned it on and held a grill lighter next to the gas tube and it was obvious no gas was coming out. I did some reading and found that if the igniter is not pulling enough amps the gas valve will not open, and that would explain why a couple weeks before it took forever to heat up. The igniter was on its last leg then died. So I ordered this part. It came in within 3 days!! Before I began the install I watched a few youtube vids on how to install the lighters and every oven they showed you just had to plug it into the safety valve. Simple enough right. HA!!! Of course I have an oven that Kenmore decided to make difficult. So..... 1) Removed the bottom cover inside the oven 1a) Turn off power to oven 2) Removed the flame spreader 3) Unbolted the old igniter 4) Remove the heating tray (not inside the oven, on the outside at the bottom, just pulled right out) 5) Find 2 wires from the old igniter 5a) My oven had only 1 wire going into the safety valve and another wire going into the power source 6) Cut the wires to the old igniter and remove old igniter 7) Bolt on new igniter and run wires down the hole 8) Cut new igniter wires to desired length (The new igniter length was too long in my opinion) 9) Splice the new igniter to the old wires still inside oven 9a) Top wire to gas valve, bottom wire to power 10) Reinstall all oven parts and hope you didn't drop too many screws :)

Oven would not heat up but the igniter would glow red
My husband is the repair genius. I just stand and watch but he had it fixed pretty quickly. Oven wouldn't work on Wednesday (holiday) when I had a house full of company coming. Had to use the oven in my microwave/oven/ convention/hood. Didn't think I could find a part for an oven that is over 10 years old.Could not believe that I ordered the part at 3 pm on Thursday and it arrived before noon on Friday and my husband had it fixed by 1 pm. You guys are great.
