1CWGD5100VQ1 Whirlpool Dryer - Instructions

I replaced the two coils that regulate the gas to turn on and the other to hold open to burn, unplug two connections and remove 2 screws and then replace the coils less then 5 minutes to do this,

I took rear panel off with a nutdriver 8 screws.disconnected the 2 wires that went to thermal fuse and removed 1 screw holding it in place.replaced thermal fuse and reconnected wires and rear panel.turned dryer on. had heat. walk in the park!

First, I would like to say how pleased I am with how quickly the part arrived. The repair was very straightforward. I used the video on the PartSelect site to guide me. Removed wires one at a time so that I could immediately put them on the corresponding place on the new part. Took less than 10 minutes.

I used the installation video, it was a very easy job.

Follow the instructions contained in the kit along with the excellent referenced how to video on YouTube. Will certainly go to PartSelect for all my future appliance repairs.

Igniter would glow and flame would burn for about 30 seconds then a rattling noise would start and the flame would go out. Replaced the coil and all is well. Very simple and inexpensive. One of the easiest repairs I've ever done. Video was very helpful.

It was a shot in the dark given I've never performed any trouble-shooting on a dryer before but it was either I try or spend $900 - that I don't have - for a new dryer. I'm female, very mechanically inclined, and will try anything once. My previous recent parts order from PartSelect.com proved successful (in-wall oven door hinges and gasket) so I decided to at least try. To have a repair person come in the house would be at least $100 and that wouldn't cover parts; I don't know anyone to call so that made it worse. And again, buying a new dryer was even worse. I did an Internet Search on my dryer model and also put in "gets hot but won't dry". I received answers that it most likely was a belt. Logic told me - before the search - that a dryer must have either a pulley or a belt to operate so I thought I was on the right track! Lo and behold up pops up Partselect.com as having a belt which the website stated was about 85% the cause of my problem. The belt was $11.49 - how could I go wrong to just try it!??? I then found positively OUTSTANDING VIDEOS on how to change the belt and one thing led to another and I decided to purchase the entire repair kit (wheels, belt, etc.). I also decided to change the thermal fuse given the age of the dryer and while it did get hot it seemed to take a long time for a small amount of clothes. Purchased the kit and fuse, had them shipped 2-day priority (total cost $60) and downloaded the videos to change the entire kit and the fuse after having watched them on the website. I brought my laptop down to the washer/dryer area and place it on the washer. Turned on the video and followed it - stopping the video to perform my part of the repairs. It worked FANTASTIC!! One thing I did find was the dryer had never been serviced and was positively loaded with dust, dirt, "kitties", the lint chute had never been cleaned out and it had toothpicks, nails and screws in it. The entire project took me over 4 hours but that was only because the inside of the dryer was sooooooooo disgustingly dirty. I vacuumed everything - even the motor was covered with caked on dust - and when it came time to install the new parts I breezed right through their installation. There were even written instructions with the parts along with written instructions on the Partselect.com website but the videos are AMAZING! They made this repair so easy to perform, everything was laid out on the video and once I had the "squeaky clean" dryer all put back together I flipped the switch to find it worked like a brand new dryer! I have saved $840 (not counting taxes and delivery fees for a new dryer) and I have now completed TWO major appliance repairs myself........no outside or professional help ..........and I owe it all to Partselect.com and the super videos and parts that FIT! I've never been so happy about a repair as I am the dryer and not only for the tremendous amount of money spent but the ease in which Partselect.com made it with the videos. Thousand dollars for a new dryer or twenty bucks for a new belt. Thank-you parts select. Ordering was easy and the instructions were bang on!

Both washer and dryer always worked perfectly. Suddenly, dryer wasn’t drying laundry properly. Problem... no heat. Cheapest price I could find calling for appliance service was about $160 to replace coil set but no one would tell me this would fix the problem. This was after calling a number of repair firms and trying to get a somewhat close estimate of what my problem was and what the repair cost. Not knowing, I might have just paid the $160 but what turned me off was having a service call fee of anywhere from $50-$80 with no one willing to tell me what the problem might most likely be before coming out or give me an estimate over the phone other than a range of $160 - $275. I just did not want to have someone come out for $50 -$80 and tell me that I needed to spend $275 and still owe them the service call even if I did not agree.
Found diagnostic and repair instructions help on line. The diagnostic information indicated a high probability, roughly 50%, that replacing the coil set would solve the problem and found the coil set cost $19.21 plus shipping, so I ordered the coil kit for total of $26.70. Note... I am a 71 year old amateur never having worked as a repairman of any kind except for my own needs.
The repair itself took less than 30 minutes start to finish and was one of the most straight forward, glitch free, easy repairs I have ever done. This is a gas dryer but still uses 110 power so I unplugged the 110 power cord from outlet. Followed suggested guidance on opening the dryer cabinet from the front and presto, the coil set I needed to replace was immediately right in front with easy access. Removed 2 screws for the hold-down bracket, slipped off both coils, one at a time, removing the wiring connection for each coil and then reconnecting to each new coil before slipping each new coil back into place and reattaching the hold down bracket. Reinstalled the dryer door and cabinet front in reverse order from taking off... 4 screws total. Plugged in the 110 power cord and put in a damp load of freshly washed laundry. Presto... 30 minutes later... dry laundry. Note... could do the same repair again in half the time since I took it slow and careful 1st time and also took time to remove dust before completing repair. I like things to look like new inside and out and it did when I was done. $26.70 and good as new. Why I didn't spend $160 - $275 is pretty obvious now.

unplugged unit, removed the back panel replace thermo fuse and replace back panel, plugged electric cord back in and we were back in business. real easy fixx

quite simply I followed the path that was worn from years of use. it was very apparent the belt had broke. along with the belt there was a generic diagram for proper install. this was very helpful

I followed the video on the website, removing the back of the dryer, then located and removed the thermal fuse, replaced it with the new one..... Presto, it worked... Replaced the back of the dryer and was good to go... Thank you Part Select

Removed back cover,top,lower and upper front,and drum. Cleaned dust and dirt drom all of the removed parts and then removed the "lint tube". Took the tube apart to clean out dirt and lint, cleaned the lint off of the motor and blower wheel, and then removed the support wheels. Installed the "lint tube" and then the new support wheels with the new locks and then installed the new belt onto the drum. I had to support the drum in order to correctly line up the belt, and then installed the upper front panel. plugged in the power cord and started the motor to be sure everything was OK before closing up the rest of the cabinet. All was OK and the belt tracted perfectly. Installed the lower front panel, top, and the rear panel. Installed the gas connection, checked for gas leaks and installed the dryer back in place. checked operation with a batch of wet clothes and the dryer worked "better than new"!!! The instruction sheet was "spot on" for clarity and accuracy.

replaced thermo fuse. not the problem. not sure how to test for next step. timer, cycler tumbler all work just won't fire up.
