12-2299-00-04 Tappan Wall Oven - Instructions

I removed the oven bottom which was held by two large head long screws. I then removed the heat deflector using a small socket. The only difficult part was when I went to replace the igniter. The screws that were holding it in place stripped I guess do to the amount of heat they were continually subject too. I had to apply pressure to the igniter bracket while removing the screw using a small socket. Even with that they did not come out easily. If I had not had trouble removing the screws the repair probably would have taken 15 min.

The philip head screws holding the igniters were frozen. Had to cut off heads with dremel cut off tool, then grabed residual screw with vice gripp pliers. Removed screws and mounted new ignighters. Used new hex head bolts. Attached wires per instruction sheet and tested unit. It worked.

I simply searched YouTube for the problem I was having and foud it was probably caused by a bad part. I found the part online and ordered it. It was as simple as a few screws and a couple wire-nuts to install. My girlfrind was very happy to get the oven fixed !!!!

pulled stove out to unplug the electric cord. Took oven door off and removed the bottom panel (2 screws) and then removed the burner (2 screws). took off old igniter ( 2 nut screws). cut wires and stripped the coating to wire to new unit.
Attached new igniter to the burner, and put the burner back in place and replaced the screws so unit was stable.
Turned oven on to make sure ingiter was going to light oven, when oven came on, turned oven off and replaced the cover to the burner and the bottom panel in the oven,. Put the oven door back on........
Probably took 45 minutes.
I ordered the part late Friday afternoon, around 3, and the part was here Saturday Afternoon. I was impressed.

The whole job took me an hour. I would have done it sooner but I didnt a square head driver bit to remove the igniter from the burner assembly. I removed the whole assembly and with a pliers slowly unscrewed the mounting screws. After that I disconnected the igniter per your instructions,spliced the remaining wires reconnected the gas and electric and I was good to go.

A friend replaced the new ignitor with the old one...very simple job.

I would like to comment on how fast the service was from when I ordered the part online to 3 business days later when the part arrived....very happy about how easy it was to order part and that the part was in stock and delivered so quickly. Thank you very much !! I will recommend Part Select to a friend that frequently orders parts.

Removed lower burner covers and fan cover to access igniter. Unscrewed igniter and pulled out as far as possible. Marked both wires and snipped them. Twisted on wires from new igniter and mounted igniter. Pulled excess wire thru to back of oven and reassembled covers from first step. Last step was to explain to wife that she needs clean in there MUCH better.

followed online instructions

1. Unplugged unit and shut gas off.
2. Removed the oven door(2screws).
3. Removed the oven floor(3screws).
4. Removed heat dispersion plate(1bolt).
5. Removed faulty igniter(2screws).
6. Labeled and spliced wires.
7. Connected new igniter.
8. Installed all previously removed parts.
9. Restored power and gas to unit and oven
fired up in a matter of seconds.....Thanks

suspected oven ignitor,went to partselect website and saw
others had same concern and ignitor was the failed part.ignitor was not getting white hot just orange-not enough
voltage going to the gas valve to open it.ordered and replaced
ignitor.repair took about 20 minuets-oven repaired.

pulled bottom door out as far as you can. lift out broiler tray and the tray under that. to get the door completely out. on each side of the rail holding the door from come out push in the tap on each side and pull the door all the way out and off. reach inside and take out two nuts holding the old igniter and cut the two wires and remove it
stripe about 1/4 in of the wire. attache the wire from the new igniter. hold them two and use the white cap and twist it on the two wires and do the same to the other two wires. Bolt the igniter back on with the two bolts and your done. When you turn on the oven the igniter will click and turn on. it will be alot brighter then the old one and the oven will start pretty fast.

I replaced both gas valve and igniter. I removed oven door and bottom of oven for easy access to both. The door slid off easy and the bottom was held by two thumb screws. I removed the gas flare for easy access to igniter & valve. I then removed the igniter & valve using nutdriver, phillips screwdriver and adj wrench. I then followed simple instructions supplied for wire connect on igniter and valve. It was a very easy job for a 25 yr old stove. I made the mistake of ordering only the valve and ordered the igniter later. Having both new parts causes the oven to light in about 30 seconds. Im glad I found partselect online. Figured out which part we needed by reading about others problems; Followed instructions & Presto = oven heats!!!! Didn't have any problems removing or replacing part.

took out the old (2 screws) put clip on wires and put the new part in. Simple

My husband was able to easily remove the old part, and replace with the new ignitor. The wires were long, so he took the extra precaution of tying them away from the flame. It took longer to take everything out and put it back together than the actual repair..
