I called a friend and in less than 30 minutes he had removed the back and relpaced the part! We did look at the instructional video! Real easy! Thank you! Will try this in the future when repair work is needed.

i first watched a video on U-Tube and did exactly as they did. removed screws from the lint tray, pried up the top panel of the dryer with my putty knife, unscrewed the 2 hex screws at the top, disconnected the plug for the dryer door,and installed the new belt it really was pretty easy. the only thing I would recomend would be when installing the belt put towel or anything that would protect your arm from the botttom piece of sheet metal. I got a pretty good cut on my forearm while I was putting the belt on the bottom pully.

Replacing the cycling thermostat did not fix the problem on my whirlpool gas dryer. I then did more research on the internet and found that a likely cause was the 2 solenoids coils that control the gas valves. I replaced these and this and now the dryer works great. I had no idea how to open up the dryer to get at these, so it took a little while to figure out. 1) Lift up on front of dryer top to pop top off of 2 spring clips. 2) Reach down through top opening and find 2 bolts that attach dryer front to dryer body and remove with a nut driver. 3) Lift up on dryer front to release it from 2 hooks that it hangs on. 4) Remove 2 screws for bracket that holds coils in place. 5) Unplug coils and put in new ones. 6) Reinstall in reverse order. Problem solved. Great service from your site. Received parts 1 day after order using regular ground shipping.

Swapped out the heating element and dryer is like brand new!!

Drum support roller bearrings went out. Had to replace drum support rollers! It's like a new dryer now!!

First unplug the unit. Take the lint filter out and remove the two Phillips-head screws at the edge of the opening. Then using the putty knife to unlatch the top panel of the dryer, insert it into the seam on the front about 3" from each side. When you feel the knife up-against the latch, apply a little inward pressure with the knife and pull up on the top panel. When you release both sides the panel, it will lift up and back against the wall(secure it so it doesn't fall forward while you are doing this repair). Looking down on the right-front corner you will find a connection for the door switch, Dis-connect it. Just below that connection, on the inside, is a 5/16" screw that holds the front panel on, take that one and another one just like it on the left side, out and the front will fall forward about an inch and then you will lift up on the panel while holding drum in place. Inspect the clips that hold the bottom of the panel on and be aware how the panel attaches to them. Try to keep the drum in place and set the front panel off to the side so you can easily grab it to put it back on. Looking under the drum remove the belt and idler pulley. The pulley is usually not in the position it should be in, it likes to fall over when it has no belt pressure on it. Hopefully you had already unpackaged the new belt and straightened it out. Loop the belt over the drum, rib side to the drum, and move it to where the old belt had been riding on the drum. Back under the drum, you should hold it in place with your shoulder, with idler pulley in hand-- install the idler pulley. There's probable a clean spot where the old one was and the humpback should point to the right side of the dryer. With right hand steadying the idler pulley, the left hand should pinch the belt together and feed it under the wheel and pull it out and hook it on the motor pulley. It may seem to be a tight fit but once its on you should be able grab the outside edge of the drum and slowly turn it without hearing any scraping noises. Double check that the belt isn't twisted. Before putting the front panel back on or if you had to take the drum out, make sure the felt seal on the back edge of the drum is not folded inward. the wheels that the drum roll on must be in the groove. Carefully reach to the back to check that they are in the groove of the drum. If everything seems to be in place, hold the drum with one hand and grab the front panel with other. Place the bottom of the panel against the unit and lift up about an inch and place the square holes at the bottom of the panel on the clips on the unit, it may take a couple of tries, then lean the panel forward making sure the drum goes around the felt seal on the panel. Once the panel is against the unit , install the two 5/16 screws securing the front panel to the unit. Turn the drum by hand to make sure drum was installed properly. Reconnect door switch. Lower top panel and push down to secure it. Install the two Phillips head screws at the edge of where the lint screen goes, install lent screen and plug the unit back into the wall socket.

raised the lid, removed 2 bolts from front face, laid dryer on its back,and replaced belt, very simple. took approx. 20 min.

Opened up the dryer, to discover the broken belt at the bottom, read model, serial number. Went on line, found sites that gave parts lists and diagrams. Wrote down part no. Used Safari to find the part. PartsSelect was cheapest, had it in stock, and could ship fastest. Sears was more expensive and slower. The part arrived in 3 days as promised.Overall, it was excellent service.

I have never done this before, so I watched the video and also watched a youtube video for this model to repair belt. Used a gallon paint can to hold up the drum, while I secured the belt. whoooo hooo I did it all by myself...59 yr old Female Do it yourself enthusiast! Thanks for all the information.

took out the old filter and put in the new lint filter...it was a snug fit.

This is easy... unbolt the back panel on the dryer. there are just a few components there... watch the video this website has .. replace the 2 thermostat sensors ... easy.. i also cleaned in there... removing the air tube and vacuumed inside and around the fan unit... found 46 cents in change and some other crap. If your mechanical y inclined you should have no trouble doing any of this. When i put back the air tube i used new foam weather strip to seal it up.. need this to make it tight.

First I unpluged the dryer.I disconnected the vent remove 9 screws to take the back off. Remove the screws that held the thermostat & fuse, carefully remove the wires from the old ones and put them on the new ones. Places them back in places and put the screw back in. Replaced the back,put the vent back on, pluged it in and turn it on. Every thing worked properly. I watched the video before, I was well pleased with everything. Leo

took the back off looked at the element found a coil broken.found model number and ordered part. part came in fast, I was surpized when it came in within 48 hours had a little trouble disconnecting the wires, I didn't know how gentle to be.put the element back in place. Put the back on and yea it worked. the reason I decided to do it myself is because I spent 98 dollars with an appliance person about a month earlier putting the belt back on. I thougkt I was going to have to buy a new dryer. so it was worth the effort to look into fixing it myself. Rose in Texas

Used repair video as guideline, I did not have their lab conditions to work in and by no means a clean machine. Also I had a two part front panel vs. single as in video, so disassembly and reassembly were OJT."on job training". Video was however very usefull in locating problem, getting correct part and accomplishing the repair. Saved $$ and machine is now working properly again. Am saving this web-site to my favorites list.
