Just put the new lint filter in.

(Always unplug dryer before making any repairs) I opened the dryer and checked the heating element. Making sure that the connection was good and nothing was damaged, I determined the problem was overheated wires. They melted and lots connection. I replaced them with the heating element wire connection kit. Easy to install and simple to get right. I cleaned the dryer again with a vaccum cleaner, removing all the lint, and checked the vents, making sure they were clear...I turned the breaker on (it was tripped when the dryer overheated)and everything worked great.

replaced with new one which had been improved upon by a brace down the middle of the screen.

I followed the instruction for the video I got by email from partselect when I placed the order. 1. Removed front cover at the bottom of the machine. 2. Remove and take out the element base and pull out the element. 3. Install the new element. 4. Test. 5 Close front cover. 5 Run it

I watched the video provided first to get an idea of how it should go. The dryer I have had a different kind of door, so those instructions didn't apply. You probably don't want to publish the way I ended up fixing it, but it did work eventually. Saved me over $500!! Thank you!

MAKE SURE THE POWER TO THE DRYER IS DISCONNECTED. On the Dryer I have there is a pannel below the door. To remove the pannel use a small flat screw driver and push in on the two clips at the top to release the pannel. In the bottom is the Heating Element and housing. The housing is held in place with a bracket and two screws. Remove the bracket and turn the housing counter clockwise 1/4 turn to remove. Check the Heating Element to make sure its not broken. Replace the thermostat and fuse in the side of the housing. Reistall the housing oppisite of removal.

Removing the element was easy. I also replaced the sensors. Putting the element back in the dryer was a little difficult because of the tab on the top of the element housing. Just remember to remove the arm that protrudes from the element housing. My wife says that it is drying faster and more efficiently.

I followed the advice and purchased a thermal fuse in advance. The advice forgot to mention a broken belt switch. Since the belt was broken I had no way of knowing how it was wrapped around the tensioner. Their diagrams are reversed from the Whirlpools. I called a local parts supplier, who turned out to be a repairman working out of his van. I met him in a restaurant parking lot and was on my way in minutes. The dryer was running within a hour. For 2 years, I propped a broom stick against my dryer door to keep it shut while it was running. Last Sunday night, I decided that it was about time to fix it. I found the PartSelect site, which was extremely easy to navigate, and ordered a replacement kit. It arrived in 2 days via Fed Ex and actually contained extras of each of the 2 components, in slightly different sizes. It took me about 10 minutes of eyeballing the parts to figure out how to place them and about 30 seconds to install the new latch parts. They fit perfectly. After reading many reviews on here I decided that the problem I had was the same as many others. Dryer had been taking longer to dry clothes, then finally quit heating at all. Replaced the heating element and the thermal cut off switch. Quick and easy to do, runs like a champ now! So happy to not have to buy a new dryer. Under $80 for all parts and shipping. Very pleased with all the success stories on here, plus the informational videos. Great site!

Disconnect power source first. I used a butter knife in the absence of a putty knife to pop open the spring hinges on the front access panel. I then removed the panel off of the bottom hinges. I then took a socket wrench and disconnected the bottom part of the support that holds the dryer element. Turn the dryer this unit about a quarter turn and remove bring the unit toward you. I then took a picture of the wiring and also took a non-black marker and marked one spot on the wires that were connected to the first clips and wrote down what color was on top. I then disconnected them and went to the second clips Two spots with the marker and recorded which wire was on top. Then the same with the third set of clips 3 spots. Once all the wires were disconnected I then removed the unit and simply replaced the thermostats and then put everything back in reverse order. I never had to refer to the camera phone but it was nice to know that it was there. The video provided by this web site was very helpful and gave me the confidence to tackle this and saved me a bunch of money. Thanks guys.

After shutting off the gas supply and unplugging the electrical cord, I used a flat blade screwdriver to loosen the exhaust vent clamp and remove the vent tube from the outlet. Using a 1/4-inch nut driver I removed the screw holding the plate covering the electrical lead connection to the power supply, then I pulled the plate back and disengaged the tab from the cutout in the back of the dryer body to remove it. I then removed the eight screws holding the back cover of the dryer in place, then removed the cover. The thermal fuse is located near the bottom of the dryer at the back, just above the exhaust vent. I loosened the two screws holding it in place using the 1/4-inch nut driver, then I removed the two electrical leads from the fuse. I inserted the new thermal fuse and screwed it into place, then reinstalled the electrical leads. I then reinstalled the back cover, the power-cord cover, and the vent hose. I turned the gas supply back on and plugged the electrical cord back in.

I am one Happy Gal.....Looked to fix,thought about just buying a new dryer..In the end talked to the local repair guy...said I could do it myself. (why pay him)..I live in small town.Ordered your part,watched the video and did it...Saved myself over $500, plus the $125 for delivery.for that new dryer..(Small town in the forest!)Very easy to install....Hope to use this dryer for many months perhaps years..It is 30 years old! More time troubleshooting than repairing. Used online help for narrowing down problem to the thermal cut-off unit. Had to remove front lower cover, remove wire sets from heating element,remove element from dryer. Then it was a simple swap out of the two relays/thermistors, and put it all back together again. Unit worked as designed after repair.
