replace lid switch

61 year old widow, watched a you tube video and repaired myself. Confined space in laundry room was the only challenge.

The lid switch sensor was inop

Following another tip from this blog, I unscrewed the assembly and let it dangle. Then I used screw nuts to attach the wires. Big tip: Cut off the wires right next to the old assembly and use the smallest wire nuts you can find. It's a little tight, but can be done. The grounding wire is not a factor. Took me 10 minutes. Thank you partselect!

I went to you tube, watched a video on how to remove the top of the washer. The install of the part was easy. Just unpluge the connecters, remove two screws. iT TOOK ABOUT 30 MINUTES. Easy, the best part was how fast the replacement part came, this company is great.

Flipped control panel back lifted the washer shell off washer and took off lid switch and installed new one. Had difficult time getting washer shell or casing back on its track to line up with putting back screws but it finally came together and we are washing again. Thank you vey much for your instructions a replacement part.

Easy enough but skirt and top have to be sideways, not groped from under lid.Customer only does this once.Also care has to be taken aligning skirt on reassembly.

Last time the washer had this problem, it was the lid switch. Jumped the connector to make sure that was the problem. Ordered new switch. Followed the directions on-line, but did not understand which screw to take out of the back panel of the washing machine. Turns out, did not need that step. Must have a different model than the one used in the demo. Everything else worked exactly like the repair demo.

Based on the excellent professional video instructions attached on the order delivery verification from PartSelect, I followed the step by step Lid Switch Assembly installation process as shown on the video which was specifically geared for Kenmore 80 series. My installation turned out flawless and the machine was up and running in about 45 minutes.

A friend said his washer would not pump and mine would operate anytime with the lid up.

I watched the repair video- the link was sent to me by Parts Select when I ordered the new switch. I followed the instructions step-by-step and the entire process took about 30 min. even with my three-year-old "helping" and talking to me the entire time! Very easy!
