Turned washer on back, inspected pump area for leak and found crack in pump. Replaced cracked pump with new pump from PartSelect, which arrived promptly. Washer was only down for 3 days and turnup only cost me the price of the part.

Based on the excellent professional video instructions attached on the order delivery verification from PartSelect, I followed the step by step Lid Switch Assembly installation process as shown on the video which was specifically geared for Kenmore 80 series. My installation turned out flawless and the machine was up and running in about 45 minutes.

this repair was really easy to do and did not take long. i used the video on whirlpool.com made it really easey. washer works like new.

I used the flat screwdriver to pop off the top of the agitator. then I used my socket wrench with extension to remove the bolt holding the top of the agitator to the bottom agitator. I pulled out the small piece that holds the agitator cogs. The agitator cogs were sheared off. I used my screwdriver to remove what was left of them, cleaned up the unit, then installed the new cogs. Re-insert the piece into the agitator unit and tighten the bolt back. Popped the lid back on top and ran a load of laundry to test. It works perfect! Although the teeth are pretty worn on the agitator as well, so I'm looking to buy a whole new agitator unit next. Very easy fix!!

I pried up the top timer setting box. Removed two screws on the back pried up the two clamps and disconected the door sensor. removed the outer case and removed the water pump. Put all the parts back on reverse order and was back in working order.

Watched the video on how to repair the problem and did what was instructed to do and the repair was that easy.

Removed control panel and rear panel replaced valve. Checked all grounds and connectors. Works like new.

I was thrilled that the agitator parts were so easy to replace, but that didn't totally fix my problem. I looked underneath the washer and found black rubber shavings from a worn part and looked online and found that the problem was most likely the Direct Drive Motor Coupling. I watched the video and ordered the part. The coupling was actually broken. After replacing the part, the washer works great...better than it has in years. I think I will work on our dryer now.

Using basic mechanical theory: If it has moving parts it must come apart somehow. After removing the top piece the next thing was to take out the agitator itself. That was done using a square end of a rachet extension.

So we had two washers both with faulty lid switch assemblies. We watched your video and were able to change out the parts in one morning. Much shorter time than we estimated. Thanks for the right parts and the video.

Half inch ratchet extension unscrew remove replace cogs reinstall retainer ring drop back in . Watch how fast agitator spins.

I viewed the repair video provided and then dove into the project. I am sorry to say that the time suggested for the fix was a bit misleading. Took me less than five minutes rather than the fifteen minutes suggested. Thanks Parts Select for a great assistance in saving me an expensive repair call!
