First, I went online and looked up the directions to remove the ice maker. After several attempts of removing and re-installing it, I found that one of the tines on the wheel had broken of making it impossible for the ice to dispense. I went online to PartSelect, found the exact part I needed, not the new replacement one either, and watched the proper installation directions on the website. When the part came, I did exactly what the video said, which took me maybe 10 minutes, and plugged the fridge back in - make sure you unplug the refrigerator - don't just shut it off!! I heard the water going into the maker, and about 30 minutes later I heard the first batch of ice fall into the bucket!!! It was music to my ears!!!! Oh, and by ordering from PartSelect and doing this simple repair myself, I saved $150.00!! PartSelect is now my new best friend!!!

It was a very simple repair. The only frustration is that all I needed was a small plastic part on the motor assembly but had to buy the entire assembly. Glad that I found the assembly much cheaper on your site, but wish I could have just bought the small plastic part.

after power outage stopped making ice

This is a built-in refer. I just turned of the power by flippig the breaker to the refer in electrical panel. Then I removed the white cover to the ice maker and the metal arm no tools required. Then I removed the 3 screws and removed the motor & control assembly then replaced it with the new one. Easy put 3 screws back in snapped cover back on and reinstalled metal arm flipped breaker back on done 15 minute or less. (note: It's helpfull to use a small mirror to see the back side of control if you don't remove ice maker from refer to reinstall metal arm.)Also in my case everything was working now but it didn't produce ice? I looked in the rear of ice maker where the water supply comes in and it was frozen. (little trough or shute.)I carefully chipped ice out with ice pick came out easy. Started making ice and filled up over night everything working great. Final note: (if water freezes up in shute again it's the water valve that needs replacing. I was told that it means it's leaking.) Hope this is helps.

Motor stopped working and was leaking

At first I just ordered a new motor and followed the instructions on the video . The new motor started working overtime but no water was being delivered to the tray . Ordered a new tray and re-installed. Working fine now. At first the ice was sticking, but that seems to have stopped now. It may be better to pull the ice maker out and check to see if there is damage to the tray before ordering. That way it could save the time of not doing things twice.

Icemaker inoperable

Replaced Control and Motor on the basis that most respondents found this unit to be at fault when the icemaker failed. Unfortunately, this wasn't the problem. Sudsequently, I replaced the electrionic boards which did fix the system. It would have been helpful (and less expensive) if the PatrsSelect website provided more help with problem diagnosis. Otherwise, the website is great!

I removed the on/off bail wire. I then removed the cap over the motor/control panel. I removed the 3 screws, lifted old unit out, installed new unit and then put everything back together. I had ice within 12 hours and it's run like a top since. I am a 64 y/o widow & I try to repair everything myself to save money. I'm very pleased with Part Select & will recommend them to everyone. Awesome shipping time too. Ordered on Thurs. Received on Fri. Fixed on Friday afternoon!

The icemaker on oour Kenmore was fading fast. Ice was only being harvested once every 4-5 hours instead of every two. Then finally it stopped altogether. I did some research and decide that it was the motor assembly that needed to be replaced. I ordered the part and within 3 days it arrived. Within 45 minutes I replaced the part with the assistance of the youtube video. I am not a Mr. Fix-it but this was fairly straight forward. I am now a hero.
