10650269993 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

Ordered the part recommended by your site, followed the instructions of the associated video and new ice is piling up right now. My only concern was no action for a time right after the install. Turns out the temperature of the freezer must drop back down to ?? before the ice maker starts to work. I was thinking maybe the electrical connection was not good. I choose to wait a night and see if change would occur. Freezer cooled down and ice maker started.

removed door and replaced the two parts

All you need is nut driver. Top hinge has 3 screws. Once you remove the screws, lift door. It is light. I place door of my sofa. I removed screws and pried the cam insert with a spatula. You can also you flat screwdriver. I also replace the other piece located at bottom of refrigerator. Now place door back onto metal rest. May need someone near floor to guide you. Once on the rest, close door and replace top screws. Forgot to mention that I emptied door shelves before removing door.

Removed the door, removed the old lower door cam, and replaced with new cam.

Followed the Partselect instructions - removed door, removed old cam and replaced with new cam. One lesson learned. There are two cams - one that sits on hinge below door and one that is up inside bottom of door. If you are replacing one, replace them both.

Exactly as shown in the video; had a bit of trouble with the wiring harness, but all else went smoothly. If it were not for the explicit video installation instruction, it could not have been done by a do-it-yourself guy with tools. I had ice again in 3 hours! It was so simple, one screw to take the ice maker out and four screws for the motor. I ordered the motor because in your web site it suggested that 46% of the times its the motor the problem, I guess you could now say 47%. Got the part within 3 days. With the help of the website I was able to verify that the part I removed (in the area of the clicking sound) was probably the part required for replacement. I ordered it, installed it... IT WORKS (I knew it the moment I plugged in the power cord and heard the compressor kick on). Saved me from buying a new fridge or calling a repairman. I'm a 58 year old woman with no appliance experience. I watched the videos and installed the part without any trouble. I removed the door and switched out the cams on the bottom. Super easy. Door closes perfectly now.

1. Turn off ice maker and cut power to refrigerator. 2. Remove food from top two freezer shelves and remove top shelf. 3. Using nut driver, remove screw that secures plastic shield to the bottom of ice maker. Remove shield and place it on the empty freezer shelf. 4. Remove ice maker unit by sliding it free of the two rails that hold the bottom of the unit in place ... when it is free of the rails, pivot the left-hand end of the unit downward to allow access to the electrical connection. 5. To pull the electrical connector apart, use a small flat-end screwdriver to pry (gently) just above the little protrusion that keeps the two halves secure during operation. 6. Once the electrical connector has been pulled apart, the unit can be placed on a counter top. Pull the square plastic shield off the left-hand side of the unit (it just pulls off, no screws hold it in place) and set it aside on the counter. 7. Remove the 3 screws that hold the motor assembly in place with a phillip's screw driver. Pull off the motor assembly and push on the new motor assembly ... you might have to "wiggle" the white plastic "fingers" over the ice bin to get the axle aligned properly with the motor assembly ... this is very easy to do. 8. Screw new motor assembly in place. 9. Holding the ice maker at an angle in the freezer, reconnect the electrical connectors, then hold the ice maker level in front of the side rails and push it back in place. Replace the small shield and secure it with the screw and nut driver. Replace freezer shelf and food, restore power to the refrigerator, turn on ice maker switch. Wait a few moments and hear the blessed sound of water filling the ice maker tray. Put away tools, check time (a 10-minute job!), do victory dance ... and then see the shield that covers the motor assembly still sitting on the counter! Repeat process, except this time it is not necessary to take apart the electrical connection ... but, of course, the ice maker now has water in it so when you tip it to push the shield back on ... Suffice it to say, that even though I had to do the job twice, I was thrilled with my $59.00 part ... we live in the boonies so a service call by a repairperson would have cost me more than $200.00 ... plus the part and labor. I did the repair, but apparently there's an Ice Door Kit with Bracket ( Part #8201756 - PartSelect Number PS990120 ) that has a metal bracket that will actually fix the problem with the broken plastic that holds the pin in.

After receiving the part, I watched the installation video on the PartSelect website. The step by step demonstration was excellent. I felt confident I could do it myself after watching the video just once, and utilizing the written instructions that came with the part. The installation went smoothly, and my refrigerator is functioning correctly again. Best of all, I did not have to go through the hassle and expense of hiring a repair person!

My name is Tuan Nguyen. I have no ice and no water dispense into icemaker tray. I replace the the icemaker control and motor assembly. I unscrew a screw underneath the icemaker unit and disconnect the wire clip and pull out the icemaker assembly. I remover 3 screw from the motor assembly unit and replaced it with the new motor assembly. and installed the unit back in the compartment. It took about twenty min. It make me look good, that my wife knows i can fixed the problem without calling the repair men.
