10650204992 Kenmore Refrigerator - Instructions

My Whirlpool refrigerator frezzer was not defrosting and the refrigator was not cooling. I followed the symptom parts advise (Defrost Timer Kit and the Bimetl-Def)of P/S. I pulled out the refrigerator from it inclosure and unpluged it, (note the shelf supports, the thinner ones are on the left side) I remove the shelfs and their supports,I removed the interior back cover of the frezzer, using a hair dryer I melted the frozen ice from the frezzer coile. Once all the ice was melted away, I cut off the old BIMETL-DEF and attacth the new BIMETL-DEF making sure the color wires are match correctly and using electrical connection plugs and electric tape I reconnected the wires. (2) I followed the video instruction for replacing the Defrost Timer Kit I found it to be quite easy to follow. The most deficult part was trying to position my body to remove the screws. I used an old CREDIT CARD to remove the face of the Refrigerator control buttons in order to access the compartment which house the Defrost Timer kit. I removed the old Defrost time kit and replaced it with the new one (following the Video instruction). I replace the frezzer cover inserting the lower four screws then using an old Credit Card I forced the top end of the frezzer cover under its retaing wall. I then replace the remaining two screws. JOB DONE

Removed hinged door from front of ice maker. Removed screws from bottom of ice maker. Removed ice maker unit and replaced control board. One pin connection was burnt. Reassembled unit and it works fine.

Your web site was great. There was a short step by step video on how to remove and replace the ice door kit and tools required. The only additional tool I used was Blue Tape so I could stabilize the inner control panel out of way onto Door.If I need more appliance parts I now know where I am ordering from!!

Neither the OEM instructions nor any of the PartSelect videos explained BOTH ends of the tube for my particular appliance. All very thoroughly covered the obvious connection with the water valve from the wall. However, the push valve end for my KitchenAid is supposed to insert into the water filter chassis, which can barely be seen from the back of the appliance, much less reached with any tool. In order to make the repair, one must either remove the water filter chassis (which I attempted unsuccessfully), or put the appliance up on jacks in order to reach the push valve site.

I decided not to open the package containing the Control and motor asm because the old one looked like it was cycling properly. I chose to try the inlet valve first, so I ordered the inlet valve and returned this part unopened after replacing the valve asm. It took a week to receive this part and just two days to get the valve.

took out the old fill tube installed the new one and its working great. I really did not think that was going to be the problem thought it would be more than that but it was not. It took about 7min to change thanks for the fast shipping I will use you in the future.

I was surprised to find that the only part regulating the temperature in the refrigerator was a part called an "air diffuser". This consists of only an actuator that opens slots to let cold air come from the freezer. It is connected to a thermocouple. That's it, no fan, no motor, no other mechanical parts. So it was no surprise that, since the freezer was working well, the only solution as to why the refrigerator wasn't working (besides the doors sealing normally) would be to replace this part. You can use a mirror to "see" if the small door slits are actuating when the refrigerator is calling for "cold" from the freezer. The slits may look like they're not open all the way and believe me, if they aren't open ALL the way the fridge won't cool down properly. I took the old diffuser off and left the hole open and the fridge cooled down better even without all of the ductwork directing cool air to the fridge section. Then you know for sure it's the part to replace. Get a thermometer to check it out. It's fairly easy, but the freezer ductwork needs to be removed in addition to taking the covers off the installed diffuser. There are tabs on the diffuser going into the freezer that hold it in place, only accessible behind the freezer ductwork covers. It was a little difficult to push the new diffuser tabs into place, just push hard on each corner. And there's a small ductwork part that fits inside the diffuser on the freezer side, make a note of how it fits in the old diffuser when you disassemble it, it will fit back into the new one with a little wiggling. Other than finagling the ductwork and shelving out of the way it's quick and easy fix. The fridge works great again!

Unplugged it for a day listened to the ice melting on the inside and plug it in again. Decreased the temperature settings and it now seems to work fine. I will save the part in case I ever need it in the future.

On the left side I unscrewed the screw and replace it with a new one . The right side in had to take s file and file of the rivet. You can use a rivet gun or a metal screw to replaced the clip. Once it is finish open the refrigerator door to see how to line the kick plate into the clip. A piece of cake.

Door cams were worn out. Removed food from door. Removed top hinge cover and hinge. Lifted door off lower hinge pin and placed door on a table. Removed old door cam and installed new one. Replaced closing cam on lower hinge. Set door back on lower hinge and closed door (magnetic strips hold the door in place). Reinstalled top hinge and replaced cover.

According to all the information on the internet diagnosing the problem with my in door ice dispenser, the problem seemed to be with the solenoid which I ordered from PartSelect. However, when I got into the repair, I found the problem was with the electrical switch that activated the ice dispenser. A couple of the plastic studs that hold the switch in place had broken which did not allow the switch to be activated. I replaced the small plastic keeper study with small screws and now the ice dispenser works fine.

Found my unit had stopped making ice. I did 20 min. of search on the internet and found this site. I was going to just buy the whole ice maker unit, but after reading a bit more found that the majority was just the motor assembly. I ordered it, 2 days later it was at my front door. I pulled the ice maker unit out, took off the motor assembly, and low and behold a small whit ppiece of plastic fell out. I replaced the motor assembly re installed the ice maker and in one hour I had ice again. As far as ease to do this job from 1 being hard and 10 being super easy, I would rate this a 10+. If you have this kind of problem, I would not waste your money on a repair man, 150.00 service call, Hell no. 65 bucks and your done. Before your wife can make you a pot of coffee this can be out and back in. I don't want to take money away from the appliance repair men but some repairs can be a DIY project. Nut driver and phillips screw driver is all you need.Hope this helps ya.

I poped the outer cover off... Removed 3 screws and gently pulled the old timer out.... Also pulled out the ice maker arm.... Aligned the shaft of the tral to match the new motor assembly and gently slid it in... tightened the 3 screws and aligned the wire hoop back in the hole and the job was done... i pulled out the top freezer basket for easy access... Took less than 20 minutes total..The part was correct as usual.. Thank fellas
