It is designed to direct the flow of air through the vent duct, and the release of steam and heat from the appliance during cooking. Over time, the damper door and frame can wear down or become obstructed by food particles and debris. A faulty damper assembly will result in poor ventilation, uneven cooking, and excessive moisture buildup which can damage internal components in the appliance. Disconnect any wires or connectors attached to the faulty damper assembly and remove it from the appliance. Position the new damper assembly and reconnect the wires/connectors before securing it with the appropriate fasteners.

This is an exhaust damper assembly for a microwave, which is also known as a microwave vent damper. The damper directs air flow through the vent duct from the top or rear of your microwave, depending on your model, to allow the air to flow outside and prevent outside air from coming in. You will need to uninstall your microwave from the wall to access the exhaust damper. Once you have gained access to the damper, simply slide the old part out, and slide the replacement part in. Wanted to switch mv from recirc vent to venting outside

The mv was originally installed as recirc venting as there was no outside vent. I hated the steam and smoke just being put back into the kitchen.

I removed mv unit, ran a vent thru cabinets, thru attic, to outside vent. Installed new part on top on mv, installed mv and hooked up to new vent.

Works great now. Getting a good tight seal was difficult because the area the vent ran was so small. Read more...
