I decided to remove the lower wash arm to see if I had a missing screw (which had been the reason my dishes on the top rack weren't coming clean earlier in the year), and there was the problem...the retainer nut was worn out and the top was almost competely separated from the base. I had to use needle nose pliers to remove the retainer nut since it was almost in two pieces, but replacing it (once I had the part) was really easy. My favorite kind of repair, quick, effective and inexpensive!
