Washer not draining some of the time resulting in the code ND being displayed.
The replacement of the drain pump was very easy. I will not go into detail, just follow the video installation provided on this site and you will have no problem.

I decided to replace the drive belt since I was into the back of the washer. The video on this site was spot on, however I did have to apply a lot of effort putting the new one on. My old belt was stretched out considerably and at first thought I had a wrong replacement belt. Number on the belts confirmed it was correct. Just had to walk the belt on the larger pulley and it will fit.

My washer is running like a new one!

Washer was not fully draining
Pretty straight forward. After disconnecting the power. Remove the back panel, locate the drain pump. Disconnect the hoses [some water will still be in the hoses, have towels and dry vac ready] Remove protective plastic from the top of the pump and remove the electrical connection reassembled with new drain pump.

Pump would not pump water from washer drum
It was very easy to do. I took the back cover off. I dissconected two hoses. disconnected one wire. removed a small plastic bag (cover over wires). turned the pump 1/4 turn.and reversed this process with the new pump. It took me 15 minutes to remove and replace. Put the washer thru a cycle and it worked!

Washer would not drain
Starting out I found the code that the washer was showing,ND, Meaning no drain so I read up on and people where saying that the pump had a blockage in it, so I took the back of the washer to gain acess to the pump, I took the drain hose off to look in side to see if there was a problem there was nothing in the pump itself so I started to remove the pump I undid the wiring harness to find the problem, the red wire to the pump had burned in the harness order the part from part select and 30 minutes later my wife was doing laundry again..........Thanks partselect for the fast shipping and quality parts very easy repair.

Old Pump Stopped Draining The Machine- Impeller In Pump Wore Out
First- I unplugged and completely drained machine of water by putting hose at ground level near drain . Second- removed back plate to washer saving all hardware. Third- disconnected in and out hose to pump. Twisted pump gently as to pop it out of slots in bottom of machine. Fourth- disconnected wires to old pump hooked to new pump replaced pump, replaced hoses- tested machine then replaced back plate of machine. Done.

When the washer is done and the cloths are out.I can hear water in the tub as i turn the drum, is that what should be the case? The pump does work but some water is left .Thanks
For model number MAH5500BWW

Hi Gregory, Thank you for your inquiry. Usually when you are having draining problems, the drain pump is the problem. I would actually have you remove the filter from your drain pump to see if it is clog. It could be leaving water inside your drum simply because it is not draining properly. If you do not see any obstructions in your filter, then you will probably have to replace the drain pump. Good luck with your repair!

I changed the pump now it will not start. Can you help?
For model number mah5500bww

Hello James, Thanks for your question. There are a few different parts you will want to test with a multimeter to see if they have electrical continuity. Check the door latch, motor, and the control board. You may also want to examine the belt to see if it has any wear and tear. I hope this helps.

Where is the drain filter
For model number mah5500bww
PartSelect logo
Hello James, thank you for your question. There is no drain filter on this unit. The water flows from the tub to the drain pump, then is pushed out of the pump to the drain hose, and out of the unit. I hope this helps!

Hello! I have a two fold question if I may: Would it be prudent to somehow test the pressure switch before replacing the pump to rule out that the pump is the problem? If so, would you please describe the procedure? Thank you very much! Love the website, very practical and informative!
For model number MAH21PDCXW
PartSelect logo
Hello Conrad, Thank you for the question. happy to hear we have been helpful with your repair! The switch can be tested with a meter. The water level switch has three terminals. Test them for continuity in pairs. First, touch the meter probes to terminals 1 and 2. Note the reading, which should be either 8 infinity (infinity, which means no continuity) or some value close to 0.0 (continuity). Touch the probes to terminals 1 and 3, and note the reading (8 or approximately 0.0). Touch the probes to terminals 2 and 3, and note the reading.two of the pairs should have no continuity, and one should have continuity. If you get a different result, the switch is bad and needs to be replaced. Hope this helps!

For model number Mah5500bwq

Hello Johnny, thank you for your question. The drain pump and hose would have to be removed and emptied out. There is an installation video at the following link that might help. https://www.partselect.com/PS11740556-Whirlpool-WP25001052-Drain-Pump-120V-60Hz.htm

What is the difference in drain pump (part # ps11740556) and pump isola (part # ps2026559) ?
For model number MAH6500AWQ
PartSelect logo
Hello Kevin, Thank you for your inquiry. One is the actual pump and the other is the plastic isolator bracket that keeps the pump's motor from breaking against the base when the pump is at high speed. Hope this helps!

My machine won't drain all of the water at the end of the cycle. I've pulled the pump out and drained the water from the pump and hoses but have found no obstruction in the hoses or pump and still have water in the tub. Am I missing something or is this normal? The tub had about 1 gal left in the tub before I took it apart. What should I check next?
For model number MAH6500AWW
PartSelect logo
Hello Keith, thank you for your question. If the belt is stretched out, it can slide around during the cycle and will not allow the washer to reach the speeds that it needs to in order to remove all excess water. The Drive Belt and Motor Isolator Kit is part Number PS2003327. This kit contains a flat drive belt, two motor isolators, and an instructions sheet. The drive belt is made to slip on the pulley until the basket gets up the desired speed. Good luck with your repair.
