Called a repairman, watched him take apart the base where the filter is. Took about 8 screws.
Told him the handle was broken. Asked him what he had to do to take out the handle. He told me all the screws around the inside of the door. Then he told me it was $284.00 to fix it. Thought about buying a new one, then went online to Talked with a tech, ordered the filter and the handle. Put the filter in and put back in the 7-8 screws. Then I put in the latch. It plugs into the main board with 2 wires that just slip back in. Took a little to snap the handle into place because I was afraid I would break it, but it's pretty tough. Put back in the screws around the door and it has worked fine since then. Note on screws: They are the funny shaped ones that fit the screwdriver or drill bit in sets that no one thinks they will ever use. By the way the parts cost about $50. with overnight shipping. Saved $230.00 for a half hour of my time.
