really easy. take out the 2 screws that hold the part, pull out the part, disconnected the 2 wires and connected onto the new part, put the screws back on. That's it. It works so far (about a week).
I did not replace the thermostat, because it seems a little bit more complicated. Beside, the old defrost heater looked dark on the glass tube, so I'm convenced that the defrost heater is bad and the thermostat is working fine.
