The freezer coils were covered in frost because the defrost heater was not working. I first removed all of the shelves from the freezer, along with the icemaker tray. Then I removed the back wall of the freezer using a nutdriver and phillips screwdriver. The defrost heater at the bottom of the coils was easy to replace, the bracket was held in place with two screws and the wire connections were push on terminal lugs. The difficult part was melting all of the frost with a hair dryer, which was time consuming, and dealing with all of the water as it melted. Then I reassembled it and it works fine now.
