Would not pump water out when reaching rinse cycle. Timer would continue to advance until end with water stil in tub. Could manually advance timer to spin cycle and pump would empty tub while spinning.
Easy repair. More time required disconnecting water lines and drain hose than replacing timer. Repair steps: 1) Remove 5 screws from back panel; 2) Remove control knob from timer; 3) Disconnect wiring connector from old timer; 4) Remove one screw that secured old timer; 5) Install new timer by reversing steps above. VOILA!! Bring on the soiled clothes!

Washer would not always perform final rinse or spin.
It took a little bit of effort to find the service manual online so I could see how to take apart the console of the washer. I wanted to make sure of how to remove the front knob and timer dial because they can break easily if not done correctly.

I pried off the center cap of the knob, then pulled the center locking post out to release the knob and pointer dial. Then I removed the three phillips head screws on the top of the console housing and pulled the top of the control panel forward while pushing the bottom of the panel towards the rear.

The timer replacement itself was very simple. Remove the wiring harness connector and it is held in by one screw and a locking press tab. Be careful not to hit and break the retaining tabs on the 'AUTO TEMPERATURE' LED socket that mounts right next to the timer.

Reassmble in the reverse order and you are set to go.

During cold cycle, washer would remain in spin cycle
I took the back plate off, which consisted of 3 phillips screws and 2 hex head screws. Than I removed 2 plugs; one from washer timer and one to the board that is clipped on the back of the washer timer. The washer timer has to be slid a little to the right, if your facing the back of the machine, than pulled up. It came out rather easy.
I put the new washer timer in, back tracing how I had removed it and ran 5 loads of colored wash with no problems.

auto spin cycle quit working, had to manually spin
The only thing I would add to the other guys stories is that the dial knob center actually comes apart, it took a few minutes for me to figure that part out. Also, be careful not to disturb or break the LED light to the auto water temperature display. I did break it, and had to glue it back--
other than that it was a short repair and we saved a bunch by doing it ourselves. The new timer worked fine.

Washer would skip the rinse and spin cycle and just keep on washing
1. Removed 3 phillips head screws and 2 hex head screws from upper back cover to expose the timer.
2. Removed the dial knob on front by popping off the cover with a screw driver then pryed up a smaller plastic button used to hold the knob in place.......knob slid off.
3. I then was able to tilt the whole panel forward to gain total access.to the wiring and timer
4. Disconnected wire harness from the switch.......had to pry up the snap tab that holds it in place.
5. Had to remove a small electrical board attached to the back of the timer......used screwdriver to pop it up and out (gently).
6. Removed one hold-down screw, lifted a little lock-tab and slid the unit to the left and lifted out and replaced.
7 . Reversed the above steps to install. This is not hard at all .>>.very easy to replace.
Machine works perfectly and I saved a couple hundred dollars for an appliance technician.
Thanks to the previous poster . I copied some of their comments and added some other comments..

Washer would fill but not move to agitation or spin
I have a Maytag Atlantis ser.# MAV7600aww, I purchased in 2001. There are five screws to remove from the back of the control panel. The panel tilts forward. Push the front part of the bottom of the panel back and lift and the timer is easily accessible. Plastic hooks/hinges hold the panel in pal;ce. Fortunately I did not have to replace the timer.

I wanted to do a deep cleaning as some mold had begun to sour the inside of the drain tub. When I pulled the front panel off I discovered a loose plug on the motor. I Reconnected it and problem SOLVED!!!

Partselect.com was by far the best price and the return policy looked unbeatable. I am very happy with Partselect.com and would do business with them again!!! (Thank you, Lacey!!!!!!)

The timer housing is to thin. I broke the tab on the right side installing the timer.
I did what anyone could do, remove the screws and replace the part. The part just came apart during installation. If I were Maytag, I would replace the part free of charge.

My washer starts to fill when I push in the knob (sometimes) other times nothing. It seems like if I barely push in the knob it starts to fill more often. Never starts completely. Do I probably need a timer? Should I check the wires first?
For model number mav7600aww

Hi Mark, Thank you for the question. This sounds like an issue with the timer switch, PartSelect Number: PS11739439. You can check the wires but if it works sometimes and not others, it would more then likely be the switch its self. Hope this helps!

My Maytag atlantis has started to mess up its cycles. It will start, fill, and agitate just fine. However it will drain and skip the rinse cycle entirely, starting the spin cycle instread. It will spurt water into the spinning tub for about 5 seconds, too. I can however manually move the knob to the rinse cycle and it will run normally from there. Is this a bad timer?
For model number MAV7600AWW

Hello Brock, Thank you for the question. This is normally an indication the timer switch is defective and will need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

To get the washer to start, you have to smack it on top of the control panel. Do you think a new timer will fix that? Thanks
For model number MAV7600AWW
PartSelect logo
Hi Matt, Thank you for the question. I would first check to make sure a wire did not come lose. If the wires are all secure the timer may need to be replaced. Hope this helps!

Washer has stopped working all together, has power. Is there a fuse? You use to have to bang the lid shut to get it to start but now nothing gets a response.Like its not plugged in.Fuse? Looked around, wiring seems ok.
For model number MAV7200AWW
PartSelect logo
Hello Doug, Thank you for the question. The model number does not list a a fuse sorry, this sounds like an issue with the Lid Switch Assembly, PartSelect Number: PS2003435. If the switch is defective it will not tell the appliance the lid is closed and may not allow the appliance to start. Hope this helps, good luck with this repair!

Washer machine goes thru cycle clothes are still wet the pump seems to pump all the water out the washer spins once or twice very slowly not as much as should the machine is set on exhigh. Can you help me out.
For model number YMHWE301YGOO
PartSelect logo
Hello Dwight, thank you for your question. There are a few steps to take to determine what the issue is. -- Make sure the drain hose on the back of the washer is not clogged or bent. – Check that the drain hose on back of washer is positioned correctly in standpipe and is able to drain properly. – Check the drain pump debris filter or coin trap, objects may be blocking the water flow. – Check inside drain pump and all hoses connected to drain pump for foreign debris or small pieces of clothing. – Be sure the wash load of clothing is balanced, balance out the wash load if you see all clothing to one side. – Check washer belt to be sure it is not stretched out or damaged. If the belt and pulley are ok, and the drain pump and hoses are not clogged the issue would most likely be with the machine control board PartSelect Number PS11755973. I hope this helps.
